🛸 Next week @rosa_ronsdorf and me will perform an electronic music theatre piece at @stichting_likeminds during @amsterdamfringe 🔊 We’re collaborating with 5 reel to reel players, each with their own character (in speed, clarity, additional noise.. etc). Our starting point for the creative process is a piece by Delia Derbyshire 💘, a tapeloop workshop we did at @willem_twee_studios and the feminist voices in electronic music. Last weekend I performed in @tempel_amsterdam with my solo project Plastic Healing Hour. I played with a set of singing bowls, synthesizers and other electronic instruments. It was very special! The fifth invention: a project by The Listening Project is now on display at @hubert.nijmegen during a beautiful exhibition by @stichtingsinus . Come have a listen to a dialogue between Delia Derbyshire, Daphne Oram, Laurie Spiegel, Pauline Oliveros, Eliane Radigue, Maryanne Amacher, Bebe Barron a.o within an airshaft where sounds and tapes are literally playing the building. On display until March 28. About The Listening Project: TLP is formed by @rosa_ronsdorf , @roospeee and @rosalie_wammes . Three artists that started collaborating in the spring of 2022 around the subject of listening. With both backgrounds in fine arts, performance and music our research based practice takes shape in form of installations, soundworks and performances. We are growing an active archive based on listening because we believe in the healing forces of (deep) listening. Our work comes forth out of extensive research into the female pioneers of electronic music and the unheard voices in their history. How can we listen to the sounds of this sonic feminist wave and what are these feminist waves of sound telling us?

The Fith Invention: an installation by The Listening Project will be part of the exhibition Space in Sound by @stichtingsinus at @hubert.nijmegen from next weekend on! Our work is all the way up in an air shaft on the roof of the old Vasim Factory.. a perfect place to dive into the work of Delia Derbyshire and listen to forgotten tapes with sounds of the future. Opening on 14/01: see you there? About the work: Two Hundred tapes and a box of a Thousand Papers were found in the attic of Delia Derbyshire after her death in 2001. Deceased as an unknown composer, she has become an important pioneer of electronic music today. Time has slowly revealed her work and is recognizing her importance in the history of electronic music. In 1953, Delia Derbyshire composed the piece ‘Four Inventions for Radio’. A groundbreaking piece that asked all kinds of people about their views on dreams, the afterlife and other major themes. Until recently, she never got the credits for this piece, which went to her male supervisor in the BBC studio who conducted the interviews. Fortunately this has changed. Bleep bloop prrr krggg plop 🎹🤖⚡️ 8 jaar geleden bedachten @rosa_ronsdorf en ik Brakkie Monster Radio bij de @muziekstraat . Elektronische muziek maken voor kinderen in speeltuinen in Amsterdam-Noord, een reizende opnamestudio met kleine synthesizers en andere instrumenten. Elke workshop start vanuit een ander thema: een kunstenaar, kunststroming, weersomstandigheid, kleur, Japanse mythologische wezens of iets heel anders. Elke opname van de workshop (van 1 uur) wordt de dag erna afgemixt en op Soundcloud gezet. Inmiddels staan er 52 afleveringen op de Brakkie Soundcloud. Hebben we inmiddels 10 seizoenen gedaan op meer dan 20 locaties. En ik weet niet met hoeveel kinderen, een heleboel, en een heleboel vast klanten :) die inmiddels experimentele, elektronische muziek in hun vingers hebben. Details from the soft sculpture 💞 a part of the mixed media installation I made during my residency at @artsitoya ‘Silence is our pillow. Rest is our portal.’ - Tricia Hersey (from her book ‘Rest is Resistance’)

During my residency at @artsitoya I wanted to research rest and try all kinds of (to me) new materials, one of these was: water color. I didn’t count them precisely yet, but I made about two hundred little water color paintings that I presented organically spread on a white wall during the presentation. I tried to capture the details and patterns I saw in the surrounding nature and to use colors that feel soft and ethereal. 📸 1 by @framme_
