In this itty bitty suitcase, we keep "the family". This is basically a scent library, of all profiles that have been turned into a candle. They serve as a way to keep the olfactory nerves dancing the correct moves, or sometimes as a way to reminisce.
The family is also used when we attempt to revive a discontinued blend; the potential new formulation is checked against the original, to see if it contains similar magic. This ensures nothing but accuracy and high standards, which is the only way to operate.
If you truly love something, you won't settle for anything less than what you see as perfection.
SPOTLIGHT on our witchcraft companion candle; The Hex.
An ancient witchcraft healing concoction, The Hex is more than a scented candle. It contains essential oils of the main notes, which allow it to cleanse the space where it is burnt of negative energy. This adaptive aspect make it a steadfast companion, for whatever life may throw at you. We've been told by fellow creative beings that they often use The Hex to ground the space where they create things. Hearing things like that makes us super happy.
So, the actual scent itself! It's super green, light and relaxing. Basil mixes with lavender, to make a combination all of it's own. Normally, lavender can be quite a difficult scent to work with, as it tends to dominate and/or smell "old". The basil stops it from doing that and elevates the lavender to something magical. Mugwort is also present in the profile, which adds a dark herbal edge to The Hex. There are numerous supporting notes that help to complete the profile, such as sage, moss, bracken and vetiver, but the full combinations for those elements will forever be a secret. We don't want to give too much away!
As the warmer weather comes in, The Hex can help your home to feel airy and fresh. It's lighter tones are a perfect addition to a hot day, much like drinking earl grey tea after a long walk in a sunlit forest.

In exactly the same style as our candles, our perfumes will be very dark in tone and they are all based around historical moments, current themes that we find interesting, or very imaginative possibilities. True art is achieved by exploration without fear or limits.

Today we have been finalising 3 custom scent profiles for a private client.
This isn't something we do very often, but when the right project comes along, it is very interesting and fun to do. Trying to interpret a written brief into a scent is often difficult, but we like a challenge! We've provided scenting for weddings, and we've also reverse engineered a few scents in the past.
Basically, if you're planning something and you want it to smell weird, get in touch!

Today we poured a new scented candle; The Blacksmith. Metallic smoke, birch tar, charred wood, honey (synthetic - our candles are 100% vegan) fir balsam, iron oxide and cedar. It has poured cleanly, with no issues. It will now rest for two weeks, before the all important burn test.
If all is well, it will launch on the first day of winter, to celebrate the beginning of colder weather. Because we hate summer.
Also - the social media for Skin Spell Parfumerie will go up tomorrow! We'll reveal our first scent concept shortly after!
