ROOFTOP SPOTLIGHT: SEANN Hello my name is Seann and I play bass. The instrument, not the fish - although I’ve always dreamed of having a bass named Bass (Fish named after instrument). Sometimes I swim in the local lakes to try to find my future fishy friend, but I am a slow swimmer and bad at opening my eyes underwater. Especially in lakes. A different, but related dream of mine is to have a bass named Bass (Instrument named after the fish). I name all of my instruments, I have Lucky, Lucina, bone-Lisa, Leandra, Loo and Lex (I will let you guess which name is which instrument) - but the combination my heart yearns for is the legendary Bass the Bass. I imagine Bass the Bass and Bass the Bass hanging out in the same room, Bass the Bass flying around happily around Bass the Bass. In my imagination, Bass the Bass has wings and can breathe air unimpeded. A winged bass is in fact my spirit animal. Is it a fish or the instrument? I may not even know myself. Accompanying Poem: Bass the Bass The dirty pond is cold and bleak, It’s where the silence lulls me to sleep. Sometimes I hear the music playing, Monkeys screeching and guitars wailing- They broke the silence from the roof, They shook the garage on which they stood, The hikers around the dirty pond, Perked up and flocked to their mighty sound! Down in the water I’m but a bass Starring up the garage’s facade, Wishing to be free to fly, Up to the music, to be alive. If I unleash a rumbling roar, Perhaps my wings will grow and soar. ROOFTOP SPOTLIGHT: SKY Hi, my name is Sky and I play an assortment of different thingamabobs and doohickeys from all over the world. Most of what I do day to day involves music in all forms and there’s nothing I won’t do, whether that’s arranging, teaching, playing, performing. It doesn’t matter to me what I’m playing as long as it gives people a sense of escape and I want to use that energy to continue giving back with everything I have.
