Two weeks ago, this past Friday I was involved in a crash on my motorcycle. I was rear ended by a drunk driver at a stop light. I’m ok… was a little bruised up, some road rash on my back. The fine gentleman that hit me, tried to leave the scene of the accident but his car was too damaged to get very far. He was found in a mall parking lot. He had no drivers license, it had been revoked from a previous incident. In fact he had 3 previous convictions for similar offenses. He had an open beer container in his car. He was arrested for DUI, Driving Without a license, Vehicular Assault and Leaving The Scene Of An Accident. He spent 3 days in Jail and was able to post bond. Unbelievable!
I’m not judging anyone who wears one of those minimalist helmets, because of the helmet law. But if I had not been wearing my full face helmet, this story would be very different as I found myself under the front of his car for a brief moment. My helmet is pretty beat up. Actually have tire marks on the side of my helmet! I had a leather jacket in my saddle bag, that I didn’t put on because it was hot. If I’d had it on, probably no road rash. If you ride wear proper gear!
My bike was totaled. Happily, I’m alive! Psalms 91.
It’s hard to believe it’s been two years since Cindy left us. Her effervescent smile, her infectious laugh and her ability to light up any room are so missed. It’s still hard to grasp that she is no longer here… ❤️
Thinking about my daddy today…
He left this earth one year ago. He was an amazing man, an amazing dad, grandfather, husband and provider. I hope I can live up to his legacy… I miss you, dad
Thank you all for the kind words and all the love! It means so much!
Those who knew Cindy, knew how big her heart was for animals. She spent countless hours at Nashville Humane Association volunteering. She was awarded volunteer of the year several times. She felt it was her calling to take care of those pups.
She would train clients in the morning and then in the afternoon spend the time that was needed to make sure every dog was walked. She did this for years! On holidays she would get up early and go to the shelter and let the dogs out, knowing it would be there only chance to get on those days. It was her heart!
I thought it fitting that this would be a place to spread some of Cindy’s ashes.
Just want to say thanks Laura Baker (NHA Executive Director) and the staff for being so accommodating.
Amelia and I are grateful!❤️
This would have made Cindy smile!
It’s so hard to believe it’s been a year since Cindy left us.
Today is the last of many firsts we have experienced this year without Cindy.
All of the holidays, birthdays, special days like Mother’s Day we have tried to celebrate for the first time without her. But somehow they have just fallen short because she made them so special! Her exuberance and laughter are just faint echoes in our house now.
She brought so much light into Amelia’s and my life. It’s hard to put into words the massive void that we experience everyday that we’re somehow learning to live with.
Cindy’s favorite flower was the Sunflower. A couple of years ago I planted some in our backyard but none in the front flowerbeds or any since.
A month ago or so… Cindy’s good friend and client Lori Shulman, came out and planted some flowers in the flower beds. She pointed out that I had some sunflowers coming up, to my surprise! I have never planted any sunflowers in the front beds nor has anyone else. They are in full bloom today! Maybe it’s a special gift from above letting us know everything’s alright!
We miss you, Cindy
