So, last Saturday I went to
@motelmozaique for this event ā Healing as Art.

The idea was about sleeping together, not like that, but collective sleeping, and performances, all focused on healing and meditation.
Which is actually quite my thing these days.
But something didnāt really sit right with me, you know?
Maybe you need some experience with healing to really feel it.
The whole thing, honestly, it felt a bit like a youth hostel.
Dirty sheets, drunk people landing in from parties...
For ā¬50, I expected something more sacred.
Thatās even more than a night in an 8-bed hostel room here in Rotterdam.
And this had twelve bunk beds!
But okay, it was also an art installation, with purple neon lights, some parachute cloth as a tent, sheets hanging with dried flowers, and those loud office wind blowers making all that fabric wave.
That part, that was actually kind of cool, kind of magical, but not like the website photos at all.
In the pictures, everything was white and peaceful and clean.
This was more like... underground rave meets yoga retreat.
We arrived around ten in the evening, and outside, there were already people sleeping on the street.
That gave me a strange feeling.
Iām going to this special event to āheal,ā but two meters away, people are really just trying to survive the night.
Is it me or are there a lot more people on the street these days in Rotterdam?
It didnāt feel okay.
I couldnāt give my spot away because we had paper wristbands.
You cannot remove them without tearing them and there was a guard watching the entrance the whole night.
But still, I felt like I missed the chance to help someone.
I mean deep down, if I really wanted, I could have done something, right?
And just feeling like a privileged hypocrite will not change anything for them.
Western guilt is privilege.
The guard welcomed us and brought us into De Doelen, that big building with all the concert rooms.
The setting took place in the entrance hall, near the escalators...
