💡What is the RomInDis project?
🔘The Roma Health Mediators for Inclusive Access (RomInDis) is an Erasmus + project, European-funded initiative that aims to strengthen cooperation between Roma Health Mediators(RHM) and General Health Professionals(HP), so as to improve healthcare access for Roma people that face mobility impairments.
🔘Over the next two years, the RomInDis project partners from Spain, Greece, North Macedonia, Germany, Romania and Sweden will work on the development of the project resources. These include:
✔️Capacity building program will equip both of the groups with the needed theoretical and practical knowledge, skills and attitudes that are required to collaborate effectively, deliver culturally sensitive and inclusive services, and, lastly, remove systemic barriers that limit Roma access to health and social care.
✔️Guided by non-formal adult education principles, the program aims to combine participatory learning with practical exercises, as well as reflections to build mutual understanding and trust between Roma communities and healthcare institutions across Europe. Participants become active agents of change within their organisations.
🔘To meet this aim, the ROMINDIS Capacity Building Programme is organized as two distinct but complementary training paths:
✔️Program A - Roma health mediators: practical training to enable mediators and Roma CSO actors to navigate health system procedures, document and advocate for Roma patients with mobility impairments, and provide culturally sensitive mediation in clinical and community settings.
✔️Program B - Health professionals: context-sensitive training for medical and administrative personnel to build intercultural competence, improve facility accessibility and procedures, and develop effective collaboration practices with Roma mediators, understanding Roma culture.
