INTRODUCING KEYNOTE SPEAKERS 💥 Professional Team of Romani Design 💥
Romani Design, the world’s first Roma fashion studio and social enterprise, was founded by Erika Varga and Helena Varga. The studio operates at the intersection of contemporary fashion, cultural heritage preservation, artistic practice, and social innovation. Romani Design promotes the visibility of Roma culture and fosters intercultural dialogue.
💥 Erika Varga, fashion designer, goldsmith artist, and artistic director, is the founder and creative visionary of Romani Design. Alongside her artistic practice, Erika has developed long-term educational and mentoring initiatives supporting Roma children, youth, and women through creative workshops, talent development programmes, and scholarship opportunities.
💥 Helena Varga, co-founder and designer of Romani Design, is responsible for the brand’s distinctive handcrafted bags, accessories, jewellery, and textile patterns. In addition to her design practice, Helena is also active as a singer and songwriter, performing traditional Roma ballads, and jazz compositions inspired by Roma musical traditions. Her performances frequently accompany Romani Design fashion shows, exhibitions, and cultural programmes, and she has appeared at numerous international cultural events, including the opening of the Roma Pavilion at the 59th Venice Biennale.
💥 Lili Kriston is a curator, cultural manager, and scholar based in Budapest. She holds an MA degree in Curatorial Studies and is currently a PhD candidate and full time researcher in Art Theory at Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design. Her doctoral research examines the mechanisms of activist art and socially engaged artistic practices through the case study of Romani Design, with particular attention to the intersections of fashion, cultural heritage, and minority representation.

Nagy öröm és büszkeség, hogy tegnap Helena az SzTE-BTK Néprajzi és Kulturális Antropológiai Tanszék @etnologia.szeged vendégelőja volt, ahol közel 120 percbes órát tartott Dr. Povedák Kinga kurzusának keretében a magyarországi roma közösségek zenei hagyományairól, zenetörténetéről, illetve etnomuzikológiai összefüggéseiről, valamint a kulturális kizsákmányolás kérdéseiről.
➡️A tudás felelősség- olvasható egyik szobor ruhánk felirataként a #romanidesignfashionart művészeti koncepcióból (ami Szegeden is látható volt a Fekete házban 2024-ben❤️): az akadémiai partnerségek, s különösen a #semmitrolunknelkulunk szakmai alapelv iránt elkötelezett szövetségeseink példázzák, hogy azonos szakmai és etikai keretek mellett milyen precedensértékű folyamatok generálhatóak.
