Indie Music Cup 07/24 roundup. Having first taken part in the @indiemusiccup charity tournament in 2016, we’re proud to have returned to this year’s edition joining 23 teams in collectively raising £40,566 for @warchilduk 👏🙌 Soaked through to our soles, the rain didn’t dampen our enthusiasm. We came in composed, won 4 out of 5 group games and headed straight into the knockout rounds. With the sun now making an appearance, the games heated up and so did our level of play. The team chemistry, footwork and goals were on point! Winning every game we sailed through to the final. With everything to play for, we stepped up against @atc_live who were the only team we lost against in our 1st group game. Our team were all in and played a mighty finale. Defending to the max, passing with precision and scoring with conviction. After a day of kicking it with many incredible women’s grassroots teams from across Europe, the solidarity & celebrations continue over at the red velvet draped basement @bardonalondon for the official #playingforkicks after party. Star-studded lineup includes: 9pm - 10:30pm Comedy Showcase hosted by @sapphire_mcintosh (she/her) - Part of the award winning group of Best In Class 2022, Edinburgh Fringe, receiver of the Dave Panel award 2022. Performed at Glee Club, Backyard, The Comedy Store, Poodle Club and now becoming a regular at Top Secret Comedy. Shortlisted for BBC new Comedian of the year 2024, Shortlisted for Funny Women Comedy Shorts Award 2022. As seen on BBC1 and Channel 4. Comedians in order of appearance: @mchughmags (she/her) - Performs regularly through UK and Europe, Mags was Funny Women finalist in 2017 and Not So New Comedian Finalist in 2022. @omodaraaaaa (she/her) - A comedian, writer, and professional overthinker. Known for turning awkward moments into punchlines, they’ve performed everywhere from actual comedy clubs to that one weird coffee shop where no one clapped but someone did cry. When not on stage, she’s usually Googling “how to pay rent with exposure” or pretending to write a screenplay. Her humour is equal parts smart, silly, and sometimes concerning. @monicahsuehcomedy (she/her) - In 2024, Monica reached a notable milestone in her career, becoming a finalist in four prestigious comedy competitions: The Leicester Square Theatre New Comedian Competition, British Comedian of the Year, Bath Comedy Festival New Act Competition, and Chichester New Act Competition. Her accomplishments reflect her dedication and talent as she continues to thrive in the comedy scene. 10:30pm - Close DJ @ginalingaling (she/they) - A multi-genre DJ, producer, and founder of @faggamuffinblocparty With over 10 years’ experience, they’ve played Fabric, Tate Lates, Glastonbury & more. A nightlife advocate and UK Black Pride liaison, GIN blends Caribbean, Latin, and electronic sounds into vibrant, inclusive, high-energy dance floor sets. Tickets available via our bio. Music is an integral part of our history as a collective. We continue to support and platform those who are under-represented within the music industry. Especially those from marginalised groups. We have an awesome lineup of DJs with impeccable taste who will soundtrack this year’s #playingforkicks tournament. DJ TATIANA she/her @djtatty 11am Based in North London, Tatiana’s sound is rooted in garage, house, and club rhythms. Expect feel good energy and some high impact edits with a latin twist. SISTERMATIC she/her @sistermaticsound 1pm - 2:30pm Sistermatic, pioneered by Eddie Lockhart and Yvonne Taylor, was the UK’s first ever lesbian sound system and monthly queer women’s club night that ran out of South London women’s centre in Brixton, from 1986 to 1995. It provided a space for black queer women to feel safe, celebrated, and party to good music. DJ SHAFIRE she/her @shafire.spins 2:30PM - 5PM Shafire is a lewisham born and raised, east london based, dj, with a deep love of music. She loves a good RnB ad-lib or an iconic beat or baseline, or the smoothness of a wordsmith mc with a fire flow. Join us Saturday 28th June Friends, family, mini humans & paws welcome.

After a 2 year break, Playing For Kicks is back! We’re uniting teams from across the UK & Europe and for the first time in PFK history, we will host 8 x junior teams for the full day tournament @fivestrentpark This is set to be a truly special event 🪄🏟️ #playingforkicks is created with love & purpose by Romance FC.
