For many parents of kids on the spectrum, birthdays can be complicated. The highs are higher than you could ever imagine, and the hard days can feel impossibly heavy. But then there are moments like today, moments so big and so little all at once, that make your heart want to burst.
He knew exactly what was going on, and he owned it. Watching him take in his day with joy and confidence was the best gift I could ask for.
To our small but mighty squad, thank you for standing with us, listening, and cheering for him every step of the way. We are so proud to champion this boy toward a future that is entirely his own.
Happy 5th, my love. You’re rewriting the script every single day. 💙

🎂✨ Five today! To my sweet boy! ♥️
You’ve built your own universe full of joy: pink-haired Barbies, Coco (you jam like no one’s watching 🎶), Minnie, markers, playground adventures, ripping up every book in sight 📚💥, and your latest lovethe red onion! You remind me every day that wonder is everywhere if we choose to see it.
Happy birthday, my heart. 💕
Happy Mother's Day!

I would not usually share photos like this—but it’s Autism Awareness Month, and sometimes advocacy means showing the hard moments too.
Jarvis was hit with both Strep and Enterovirus. His fever reached 105, he stopped drinking, and he was so sick and scared. But here’s the beautiful part: the teams at @sickkidstoronto and @michaelgarronhospital treated him with full respect. They honored his boundaries, read his cues, and never underestimated him.
Though nonverbal, Jarvis made himself heard—and this week, we built something powerful together: trust.
These kids understand more than we know. Always listen. Always respect.
