“…yo habito con frenesí la luna…” “I simply am not of this world… I dwell on the moon with frenzy. I’m not afraid of dying; I’m afraid of this foreign, aggressive earth… I can’t think about concrete things; they don’t interest me. I don’t know how to speak like everyone else. My words sound strange and come from far away, from where nothing is, from encounters with no one… What will I do when I plunge into my fantastic dreams and can’t resurface? Because someday it will have to happen. I’ll go and won’t know how to return. In fact, I won’t even know there is such a thing as ‘knowing how to return.’ Nor will I want to, perhaps.” Alejandra Pizarnik.

In the tradition of the Yoruba people, Iyalodde is not a goddess — but something just as powerful: a woman who rises as the voice, strength, and conscience of her entire community. ⠀ The Iyalodde is the leader of women, their representative in the king’s (Oba’s) council, and a central figure in political and social decisions. Her role goes beyond politics — she is a symbol of wisdom, leadership, and resilience. ⠀ In the 19th century, women like Efunsetan Aniwura and Madame Tinubu held this title with such power that they influenced wars, trade, and royal successions. ⠀ Today, the title still lives on in many communities, reminding us that feminine power has always been — and still is — a fundamental part of African history and balance. ⠀ 👑 Iyalodde: Queen among women, guide among all. #Yoruba #Iyalodde #AfricanCulture #FemininePower #BlackHistory #AfroDiaspora #AncestralWisdom #WomenOfAfrica

It is a rare gift to find someone whose mere presence teaches without uttering a word — who beckons you to rise above the person you were yesterday. To witness the collision of two stars giving birth to order from chaos is a kind of cosmic poetry. I only hope to keep orbiting you for a long, long time. # black and white

In the early 14th century, Switzerland was under the rule of the Habsburg Austrians. The local governor, Albrecht Gessler, placed a hat on a pole in the town square and ordered everyone to bow before it as a sign of respect. William Tell, a renowned archer from the region of Uri, refused. As punishment, Gessler devised a cruel test: Tell had to shoot an apple off his own son’s head from a long distance using a crossbow. If he refused or missed, both he and his son would be executed. Tell, a master marksman, took careful aim and successfully split the apple in half without harming his son. However, Gessler noticed that Tell had prepared a second arrow and asked why. Tell admitted that if he had accidentally hurt his son, the second arrow was meant for Gessler himself. Enraged, Gessler had Tell arrested and taken by boat to a dungeon. But during a storm, Tell managed to escape, later ambushing and killing Gessler. This act is said to have inspired the Swiss people to rise up against their oppressors, ultimately leading to Switzerland’s independence. 💛 #creativeportraits #storytellers#resistencia #symbols
