I don’t particularly enjoy drawing backgrounds, so I chose to use AI for that part of the process. I created the character myself in Illustrator, generated the background using ChatGPT, and then had ChatGPT composite the two together.
The first image is the final result. I think it’s a strong and legitimate use of AI: it supports my workflow without replacing my artistic voice. I remain in control of the design, the intent, and the final look—AI is simply another tool in the creative process.
