Hey, Y'all - I heard you - My last post of a clip from my 1993 interview with La Toya Jackson raised a few eyebrows and some of you felt a certain way about it ... and I heard you. My intention was to document a significant moment in entertainment history: the Jackson family's complexity during the early 90s. I was sharing an archival interview as a historical record, not as an attack on Michael Jackson's legacy or memory. But I do recognize that my post hit a nerve for some MJ fans, who felt hurt or offended. That was never my goal. Michael Jackson's impact on music and culture -- and me -- is undeniable, and I have deep respect for his artistry and what he gave the world. What I was documenting was the arc of the *family drama*—the messiness that existed at that moment in time. History isn't always comfortable, and sometimes it's complicated. But I never meant to hurt your feelings with my post. Watch the full interview to reflect on that day and time on my YouTube channel @RolondaWattschannel #RolondaWatts #RolondaShow #90sTalkShow #TalkShowHistory #InterviewHistory #EntertainmentHistory #ReflectionVideo #ArchivalInterview #JacksonFamilyDrama #MediaReflection #latoyajackson #MichaelJackson

Mid 90s - my talk show years - I sat down with La Toya Jackson for what became one of the most talked-about interviews in talk show history. The topic was controversial, the stakes were high, and the conversation was direct. As an interviewer, I've always believed that thoughtful journalism means asking difficult questions—even when they make audiences uncomfortable. This exclusive interview exemplified that approach. Some viewers supported La Toya's willingness to speak so candidly. Others were quite critical. But the conversation happened, it was documented, and it became part of the cultural record of the pop-star's family drama.   With the new Michael Jackson biopic now in theaters, this archival moment has taken on renewed relevance.   It's important to note that La Toya later retracted these accusations in 2003, stating she had been coerced by her then-husband Jack Gordon. Following Michael's death in 2009, she became one of his strongest defenders. This interview should be understood as a significant chapter in the Jackson family's complex history—not as a final judgment.   Moments like this have shaped how I approach my work: the responsibility that comes with a platform, the importance of presenting context, and the recognition that people's stories can evolve. Media has power. That power demands integrity. #Journalism #Broadcasting #MediaIntegrity #InterviewSkills #TalkShowHistory #LatoyaJackson #MichaelJackson
