Knicks were in Chicago and it damn near felt like the Garden in our section. How I love my rowdy, obscene New Yorkers! We were chanting "Let's Go Knicks" so loud we actually got booed and silly stringed by Benny the Bull. Saw the great Patrick Ewing, my Captain and my Hart! The boys were brought over to shoot around with some players and the Knicks won!!!!! Let's fkn goooooooooooooo!!!! #newyorkknicks
It's been quite awhile since I've been down this way so I hadn't seen this MLK Memorial that was opened to the public in 2011, after two long decades of planning, fundraising and creation. I was completely awestruck standing before Dr. King - the "stone of hope" seen emerging from the "mountain of despair" that was inspired by the famous line from his "I have a dream" speech. The sculptor, Lei Yixin, purposely didn't finish the figure in all its detail because MLK's work was not finished. He was killed so young, when he was just beginning his mission as a steward of civil rights, justice and democracy. Note* granite is an extremely difficult and unforgiving medium to work with, but Lei felt this was symbolic of the struggles that MLK faced during his life. It is an absolutely breathtaking work to stand before. A definite must see!
