Folks wonder what does success take? How hard do I need to go after it to feel it? When is the right time to jump when it looks riskier than robbing a bank? Each person has to define #success and the journey for themselves. Here are a few approaches that helped me on my success journey.

The strongest #advice to share is this: accept that success is not linear. Most things meant for you tend to cycle. There will be many starts and stops, many detours, and many events of feeling lost. And ALL of that — is okay. It’s kinda like how they say a life lesson will tend to repeat until you learn and grow.
. .
Also, understand everything and everyone that is placed in your life has a purpose — even if it seems like it doesn’t have a purpose. When I approach life with this in mind, it opens me up to the experience; allowing me to gain knowledge and grow for something that my future self will appreciate — meaning I better commit to myself 120% . A direct example: early on in my career, I was placed where I had to push myself to understand film budgeting despite hating numbers. That particular task cycled back when we started running a COVID Compliance company and I had to submit budgets and bids to shows. Alternatively, I had many opportunities to learn screenwriting and turn my stories into scripts w/ the best in the biz, but I avoided it thinking folks I would find out I was a terrible writer and #storyteller. And now, I’m kicking myself because the opportunity to produce one of my favorite film stories will now take more time because I have to spend time writing *now* instead of the time I had leading up to now. This is why I say, “My future self will thank me for this.”

The hardest is putting one foot in front of the other when you don’t know the ground exists. It’s silly. The ground is always there. But, our Minds like to suggest that success concepts are not grounded until they come to fruition — meaning you have to believe in the imaginary *before* you can unconsciously take that step forward. That silly Mind piece will get you every time. Learn when to listen to it, but learn when it’s just trying to keep you safe and within your known, familiar world.

Share your new insights and experience to remind them you exist and let them know you are continually expanding your skills. If you watched Peacock’s Traitors Reunion… I was there doing my booth thang. Very fun to be part of that production. But here’s the bigger one..

Last year I was a finalist in the Disney Unscripted Directing Program. Made it through finals week and then… somehow there wasn’t a slot for me. It was devastating. And if you know me, you know that kind of thing makes me go, “okay cool, watch me.”
.
Since October I’ve been in deep research mode. With the industry in contraction, I started looking at where live storytelling is still thriving: sports. I’ve been studying in-venue entertainment, broadcast mechanics, show flow, and talking to anyone who would get on the phone with me. That led to interviews with the Avalanche, Angel City FC, Denver Summit FC and several others.

…And I finally landed one.
.
I’ve signed on as the Director of Game Presentation for Cosmic Baseball with the Chili Peppers and GlowMojis.
Over the next 8 months I’ll be building fan engagement and player comedy segments, integrating sponsor content, and directing/showcalling 52 games across 30 stadiums nationwide.
.
Yes, we literally play under black lights. Think Savannah Bananas energy, but baseball is still the heart and the entertainment is the cherry on top.
