— Sunday, May 24 Set as Backup Date for Program — Race of Champions and Shangri-La II Speedway management have mutually agreed to postpone the event originally scheduled for Saturday, May 9 due to an ongoing stretch of inclement weather, including predicted precipitation, unseasonably cold temperatures, and poor grounds conditions.
The event has been rescheduled for Saturday, May 23. At this time, the schedule is expected to reflect an afternoon start to provide fans and participants the opportunity to attend the program in a single day. Sunday, May 24 has been designated as the backup date should inclement weather impact the rescheduled event.
“These decisions are never easy,” stated Joe Skotnicki of Race of Champions. “Of course, there will always be Monday morning quarterbacks who have no investment in the event, the facility, or the cost of travel in today’s environment. We recognize that, and we also understand the revised date may not work for everyone. However, with the forecasted precipitation and temperatures, we felt this was the best decision for all involved.
“It is our intent to be strong partners with the tracks and to provide competitors and fans with the best conditions possible for our events.
Sometimes Mother Nature takes that out of our control. We look forward to the event’s rescheduled date.”
Further event details and schedule information will be released in the coming days through Race of Champions and Shangri-La II Speedway social media channels and websites.
The event will be broadcast live on FloRacing.
