Beauty of Time

30 in 8 days.
Lately life has been calling me to sit with self and stay indoors.
For the past month+, I’ve been on DND — only urgent matters pull me outside or get my attention. My birthday is coming up, and I’m getting the birthday I need. Usually around this time I’m stressed, and the depression hits hard. Entering 2025, I decided it would be different this year. So no, I didn’t get what I wanted — but my God, it’s still so beautiful, and I need it.
My emotions are everywhere, but at the core, I am still ever so joyous and ever so grateful. I have been looking forward to this 30th birthday since mid-20s. I was excited for what would come afterward, but I managed to jump-start it this year and got a taste of what’s to come.
To my roaring 20s — you were amazing. No regrets. Life is for the living and you lived!
To my 30s — I look forward to getting well acquainted. You are a fulfilled prayer.

I recently had the pleasure of sitting down with the wonderful @mugwiza_olivier from @thenewtimesrwanda to tell my story.
In the past, my story has often been told wrongly by others, so it was refreshing that Mr. O took a genuine interest and came to me personally.
The whole experience was such a joy!
We shot at my second home, @soho.rw , surrounded by love— which added to the ease of sharing openly.
Next month marks three years since I moved to Rwanda. Now that I’m starting to truly settle in, I felt it was the right time to share a little about myself— in my own words.
Thank you again, Mr. O, for taking the time to sit with me. It felt so good to speak freely and honestly.

I have been highly favoured of late.
I must admit, I still sometimes struggle to bask in that favour—but I’ve been doing a lot better than before.
I am surrounded by love; in turn, I’m becoming more comfortable giving love. I am surrounded by joy; in turn, I’m becoming more comfortable living in joy. I am surrounded by peace, and in turn, I am finding comfort in the quiet.
It’s a new week, and this is my new outlook: life is beautiful when you allow it.
I move through life intentionally. I am intentional about moving with the current, not against it. I am intentional with the love I give. I am intentional with how I show up in the world.
Life isn’t happening to me—I am living it.
I am grateful.
