#ThrowbackThursday – A man that needs no introduction. As soon as we discovered
@rockwithdan , we were immediately taken by his extraordinary range, silky timbre, and the raw feeling he put into every performance.
Not even a few days passed between him temporarily leaving
@tesseractband and us instantly messaging him to collaborate. The good vibes were immediately there, but our path to actually getting him on A Dream In Static, for a long time, was uncertain. Unlike our other vocal songs on our first record, ADIS was a group composition, so we didn’t have any unified vision for the vocal parts—we figured we’d have Daniel write them, given the strength of his ideas in other projects. Unfortunately, his schedule filled up and he no longer had the time to compose for the song, so he wasn’t able to be our guy … or so it seemed. We put our heads together within Earthside to write some parts we figured Dan would sound good singing, in the hope we could win back our place in his calendar, and you all know what became of that 🙂
In the end we took so long with our debut album that Daniel was able to leave and return to TesseracT so we could credit him as such!
To this day, Mr. Tompkins remains one of the closest friends and collaborators of the band and we look forward to the next project with him and possibly even sharing the stage at some point 😉
Looking back on this journey with Daniel makes us even more eager to bring our music to London at
@229london on Friday, May 22.
