In 2011, I had the pleasure to run monitors for an Ace Frehley show at Showcase Live in Foxboro.
His crew showed up on time only to tell us that “We can’t find Ace”. Apparently, Ace had randomly left the tour bus and rented a Porsche to drive to the show instead. At the time he was legally blind and deaf. Apparently he had even fallen off the stage night prior because he couldn’t see the edge.
He finally showed up about an hour before doors. Took the time to meet the crew and was very friendly for someone in his condition.
The show was the LOUDEST of my career. The band came with FOUR 8x10 bass cabinets, 6 full stack guitar amps, 14 stage monitors (4 for Ace alone). My ears bled for days. It was worth it.
Rest in Peace to Rock n Roll legend Ace Frehley.
