SHINY HAPPY EP

Part of a few releases, print and digital, weâve worked on which will be dropping over the next months.

DESIGN-A-SIGN
We designed a custom, two-sided, sticks-out-into-the-street, hovers-above-the-sidewalk, retro-futuristic sign for the wonderful @onette_berlin .
This one was a super joyful collaboration with @lucabonzo who not only fabricated it beautifully, but took the time to make the design idea actually physically possible!
It went from Lucaâs workshop, to our studio, where it was painted by hand using the same old timey paints and colors as the windows and specials boards lettering.
This handmade, old-timey detailing in the work for Onette makes even more sense when youâre in the space; when those textures are paired up with vernacular (characterful) typography choices, the goal is that you get transported, just a little bit, to a time thatâs outside of your day-to-day grind: you can relax, order a BEC + side of gherkin + slice of pie + espresso tonic, and forget about everything for a little bit.

Handpainted windows and specials boards for beautiful @onette_berlin .
Ivory paint, old-timey casual lettering and quick brush strokes.
Teamed up with @alex.signpainting who brings levelling (and level-headed) skills and a very snappy brush.

You might find yourself hiking in the Portuguese countryside and happen upon some ancient stones, or a strange dystopian storage facility, or perhaps an old Roman bridge made out of Pozzolana cement.
You might, in that moment, feel the need to build something of your own. Something you can connect others to. Something you can write with.
Our zine shows you a way to do just that. To create letters from simple forms. And then write history with them. Or just to make more typographic posters.

đĽ MENUS FOR @onette_berlin đŁ
All thanks to @tamarasie and @briewest for the heart warming collaboration on various design and branding materials for their beloved Luncheonette that opened this summer.
Vernacular typography, vintage whimsical creatures, tacky laminating techniques, an almost-over-full menu design and some appallingly bad jokes all come together to take you out of the everyday modern world and into a cosy moment in SchĂśneberg đ¸
As the seasonally changing menus age, they get dog-eared, a little bit mangled, sometimes redacted with tape â becoming more charming by the day.
Fonts include Plaetze by @raoulgottschling , Chaumont Script by @anrt_type and good old MacOS Marker Felt.
BRAND DEFINITION / ARCHIVE 2022
At the end of 2022 we collaborated with our neighbors, @byebyeworld.recordings , to launch their new recording and production studio in Kreuzberg.
FORGET TIME, LEAVE EARTH, MAKE MUSIC.
We created a brand definition that plays on the name of the studio, and encourages people to focus on doing what they love.
A doorway opens to another world where you can leave the outside world behind and create your best work.
The visual identity uses an energetic combination of handmade ContĂŠ Crayon drawings, computer-made background textures, bubble fonts and primary colors and coloring pencils. Itâs fun, out-of-the-hum-drum world and a little but off-kilter.
