Rockwood Ramble 10K

Starting and finishing in historic Rockwood Hall, our annual Rockwood Ramble 10K is a crowd favorite. Scenic Hudson River views greet runners before the course veers into the woods. The wide carriage roads provide the perfect setting for experienced trail runners and first-timers. Say goodbye to traffic, pavement and noise and hello to the Preserve! Learn nature watercolor technique with expert instructor Ann Johann!
Experience nature through painting! Learn the watercolor technique under the guidance of award-winning artist, Anne Johann, as you absorb the beauty of the landscape before you.
You may bring your own supplies if you have them; if not, supplies will be provided. Recommended supplies include: a watercolor set, paintbrushes, watercolor paper, easel, pencil, eraser, and a couple small jars of water.
Meet in the Visitor’s Center courtyard, followed by a short walk to the lake.
Wear sun protection, bring water to drink and a lightweight chair that you can carry to the site. Cost: $8. Max: 10 people.

Overview
An interpretive habitat walk
Step into the vibrant world of fields and meadows! In this program, we’ll explore these open habitats and discover the plants, insects, and animals that call them home. Learn how grasses and wildflowers support pollinators, how animals use these spaces for food and shelter, and why meadows are so important for biodiversity. We’ll spend time outdoors observing, identifying, and discussing what we find, with a focus on seasonal changes and ecological relationships.
Recommended age: 9+.

Join us for a fun and interactive program centered around New York State Parks’ Explorer Club Activity Book! Designed for young explorers and their families, this program invites participants to unplug and dive into nature through hands-on activities, games, and discovery. While out on the trials, we’ll explore topics like wildlife, outdoor safety, and sustainability while completing sections of the booklet together. By the end, you will earn an official Explorer Club patch!

Welcome Earth Day by becoming a newly trained Leave No Trace ambassador through an awareness workshop! Wildlife Rehabilitation

Have you ever come across an animal that appears to be injured, ill or abandoned and possibly in need of help? Learn what to do in such situations and how to decide whether the animal requires intervention in the first place. Licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator Maggie Ciarcia-Belloni has been helping wildlife for over 30 years. She has worked with many kinds of wildlife but specializes in rehabilitating small mammals. Maggie will be accompanied by some special guests including Flower, her education opossum, and Sheldon the box turtle. Both are non-releasable.
The workshop will take place in the art gallery at the Visitor’s Center.
Cost: $4.

Maximum: 20 People.
