Science is at its best when it creates new possibilities.
At Roche, we have spent two decades mapping the intricate pathways of the immune system. Today, we are applying that knowledge to target the roots of complex diseases like COPD, IBD, and Lupus.
We are not just looking at how to treat conditions—we are looking at how to re-program the biology behind them. Because every breakthrough expands the horizon of what is possible, giving more people the chance to live on their own terms.

This #WorldLupusDay, we’re raising awareness of the real-world impact of lupus and the realities facing millions of people around the world every day. 💜
Lupus is a complex, systemic condition where the immune system attacks healthy tissue. It is often invisible, with symptoms that mimic other conditions—leading to a long, challenging road to diagnosis.
In this video, Jeanette, who lives with #SystemicLupusErythematosus (SLE), shares what real progress in care would look like and her hope for the future.
Let’s help make lupus visible.

This #LupusAwarenessMonth, we’re listening to patient voices to help build greater understanding of the real-world impact of lupus and what matters most to people living with the condition.
We’re sharing the stories of Jeanette and Amy, who are living with #SystemicLupusErythematosus and #LupusNephritis, respectively, as they reflect on how lupus can affect day-to-day life – from daily treatment routines to long-term aspirations.

Some diseases challenge not only patients, but also the boundaries of scientific understanding.
Myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease (#MOGAD) is one of them — a rare and complex condition of the central nervous system that continues to push the need for deeper research and clearer differentiation.
When conditions present with overlapping characteristics, advancing knowledge becomes essential. Because behind every accurate diagnosis is the possibility of more appropriate care, better decisions, and improved patient outcomes.
This is where long-term commitment to research makes a difference.
Through continuous investment in science, collaboration with the medical community, and a focus on innovation, Roche is working to better understand diseases like MOGAD — helping to bring clarity where uncertainty still exists.
Progress in rare diseases requires persistence. And the belief that every unanswered question is an opportunity to go further.
Healthcare saves lives. But it also leaves a footprint.
Climate change is already shaping people’s health — so how we innovate matters more than ever.
At Roche, sustainability means operating with a long-term mindset: ensuring more people can benefit from our innovation today without compromising the world they will live in tomorrow.
Because human health and planetary health are inextricably linked. 🌍
Here’s our approach to environmental sustainability.
🩸This #WorldHemophiliaDay, we honour the strength of everyone living with haemophilia A.
The condition impacts far more than health: planning, uncertainty and fear of bleeding can shape daily life. But advances in care mean children born today can start protection from day one, offering a brighter future.
Together with @wfhemophilia , we’re committed to better protection and better outcomes for all. Tap the link in our bio to learn more 🔗.

When antibiotics stop working, every infection can become a fight for life. 🩺
Today, we share the story of Vanessa, who survived a devastating car crash — only to face a drug-resistant infection that no antibiotic seemed able to stop.
Despite repeated treatments, the bacteria had adapted. Living with AMR meant years of uncertainty, multiple surgeries, and constant fear. Vanessa eventually overcame the infection and now advocates for responsible antibiotic use and early diagnosis — helping others understand the real human impact of drug resistance.
Her experience shows why tackling antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is so critical. That’s why our scientists are committed to developing advanced diagnostics and entirely new classes of antibiotics, protecting patients today and for generations to come.

Pia, SMA My Way Champion, recently watched her daughter attend her upper secondary school dance. She lives with SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy), but that didn’t stop her from dancing and celebrating just like everyone else. Still, some people were surprised.
Read on to hear Pia’s reflections on awareness and perceptions of SMA:
"I’ve often found myself thinking about what is “normal” and what is simply human.
When I talk about SMA with people who aren’t familiar with it, I usually start with this: SMA affects muscles. It doesn’t define personality, dreams, humour, intelligence or determination. And it certainly doesn’t make everyone the same. Every person living with SMA is different — with their own strengths, talents and character.
What I wish more people understood is that it’s not our job to decide what is possible for someone else. With the right support, assistive devices, creativity and a bit of common sense, so much is achievable."
