3 years ago, I set off on a journey that shaped me into the man I am today. The goal: to run #45marathonsin45days from College Station to Las Vegas, over 1300 miles on my feet, to raise money via a Kickstarter campaign that would help fund a live music festival here in College Station.
I believe that Live Music unites us all and creates genuine connections that transcend race or status. That alone was enough reason for me to risk my life to complete this journey, and despite falling short of our financial goal, I have continued to pursue my goal of launching a music festival here in Bryan College Station, and I am now proud to announce that BCS FEST 2022 will become a reality this fall.
Author and filmmaker
@stephenjoshea , alongside
@_will.walker (another extraordinary filmmaker and entrepreneur), believe in telling my story and the story of the difficulties that all black entrepreneurs face. Together, they have been working to produce a documentary film about the run and all of the obstacles I’ve had to overcome to make this music festival a reality. Now we are at last ready to share this teaser video – which is only a glimpse at what is still to come, and ultimately will be a film about resilience and perseverance that inspires people to never give up on themselves.
With that, if you or anyone you know might be interested in getting involved with this film or BCS Fest 2022, let me know!! We are looking for sponsors, paid partnerships, and connections to make both the film and the music festival the best that it can be. Please contact
@stephenjoshea or me, Robert Mwandia, at
[email protected] with any questions about our next step to seeing the project completed. You can also find more information about the film and the run on my website at DJRob.co
