Another tarot card for the @toronto_motion challenges. This time is the "Two of Swords." I continue to develop my own style, getting deeper into what made me the artist I am, which in part was my childhood. Besides drawing with colored pencils, I used to play a lot with clay by creating all sorts of forms and shapes. There was a show back then called "Pingu" of a penguin and his family. It was all made of clay, and I loved looking at the animation. My piece is trying to emulate that feeling while having my own interpretation of the Two of Swords.
In my interpretation, I play with the concept of "old" and "new," "past," and "future," but everything part of the same at its core.

The @toronto_motion family decided that for this month's challenge, creating a tarot card with your style, our inspiration was this year's Chinese Zodiac, the dragon. We were given a range of color palettes we could choose from, and the topics had to be based on one or some of the symbolisms behind this figure. I chose the concept of "abundance" but decided to connect it with some Western ideas of what some people think "abundance" is. So this dragon clearly has some "drip" of his own, lol. Expect to see more entries from other great professionals and colleagues from the motion community in the TOMO instagram account later this month.

Another Tarot Card challenge for the @toronto_motion group. This one is based on the card "The Star." I made an interpretation of the original card, and its several meanings, and brought the whole concept to a more contemporary / fantastical perspective. These pieces allow me to showcase my illustration style and some of the animation techniques I use to bring everything to life. I also add a bit of comedic character by adding little things here and there that relate to my characters.

Last card I’m showcasing for the @toronto_motion animated deck — this time featuring a hybrid animation combining Moho’s rigging system with C4D+Redshift for the environment, all brought together in After Effects for the final output.
The concept was to portray the Joker as a stand-up comedian with a hip hop/Latin trap vibe, performing a show for an audience. It was a really fun challenge, and I got to experiment with a mix of techniques that I’m excited to explore further in the future.

I’ve been exploring ways to bring my character design style into 3D, and these challenges have
been fantastic for that. Since the video game we’re developing is primarily 2D, this kind of work
allows me to switch to a 3D pipeline periodically, keeping my skills sharp and preparing for
future projects that might lean more into 3D aesthetics.

@toronto_motion has another challenge for this month suggested by another member in the group @awreno . The brief was to create an isometric piece of Toronto. Each visual artist would choose their preferred techniques. I chose 3D for mine. The idea is to put all our pieces together to create the TOMO CITY. I was inspired by the diversity of facades and businesses we can find in Toronto's main streets. I also created a mural for one of the side walls of a building. There's so much street art in Toronto, and I thought it was a great opportunity to depict its love for the Blue Jays. The Raptors are also represented by a mini basketball, which is a representation of the different public sports facilities we can find throughout the city. I also included the iconic Toronto sign in the Nathan Phillips Square.

May challenge completed for @toronto_motion . This one was inspired by these month's themes of Dark vs. Light / Good vs. Evil. I took this opportunity to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Episode I: The Phantom Menace. This movie has a special place in my heart because it reminds me of the excitement around it and the expectation to go and watch it during my teenage years. This was the first Star Wars film I saw in the theater since I was too little to catch the originals when they came out. I still remember the feeling when the Star Wars logo appeared on the big screen. What a great memory!
I used a mix of software here. C4D and Redshift for the Naboo Royal Ship and the desert. Procreate for the character and 2d asset creation. Moho for rigging and After Effects for composting.
