DJ SONSUMA

SonSuma steht vor allem für House Musik, doch durch seine eigene Erfahrung als Tänzer und Hip Hop Head verfügt er über ein großes Repertoire - besonders auch an Hip Hop Musik, die perfekt für Battles funktioniert.
Seine ersten Schritte als DJ machte er bereits in den frühen 90er Jahren mit Vinyl, richtig eingestiegen in das DJ Game ist er dann 2015.
Seitdem hat er auf zahlreichen Battles, in Clubs und auf Festivals aufgelegt und dabei immer wieder sein Gespür für die Crowd und die Tanzfläche bewiesen.
Hinter SonSuma steht Rob Lawray, der 2009 die Next Generation Battle Tour gegründet hat und seit 2001 als Mentor und Förderer vieler Tänzer*innen aus Nürnberg, Fürth und Erlangen aktiv ist.

SonSuma is primarily known for house music, but through his own experience as a dancer and hip hop head, he has developed a wide repertoire - especially in hip hop music that works perfectly for battles.
He began his journey as a DJ in the early 1990s using vinyl, and fully stepped into the DJ game in 2015.
Since then, he has played at numerous battles, clubs, and festivals, consistently demonstrating his strong sense for the crowd and the dance floor.
Behind SonSuma is Rob Lawray, who founded the Next Generation Battle Tour in 2009 and has been active since 2001 as a mentor and supporter of many dancers from Nuremberg, Fürth and Erlangen.

It was an absolute pleasure hosting the amazing dance school event together with Buffo. Seeing all the passionate students dance, and watching the members and parents support each other with so much joy and teamwork, truly made me happy.
Our community is something very special, and I will always keep fighting for it.

And yes… the whole day happened on a carpet.

Not the perfect dance floor.
Not the smooth competition ground many dancers are used to today.
.
Just a rug.
.
What started as a practical solution became something else.
Some of the OGs reminded us that back in the days, at real house parties, dancing on carpets wasn’t unusual at all. People would go off so hard that they even had a saying for it:
“Cut the rug.”
.
And somehow that rug in Haus 12 brought that spirit back.
.
In a time where many dancers grow up inside organized battle structures, perfect floors and competition formats, it felt important to remember something simple:
A great dancer isn’t defined by perfect conditions.
.
A great dancer finds the dance in any situation.
.
Sometimes the floor is sticky.
Sometimes it’s concrete.
Sometimes… it’s a carpet.
.
But if you are really connected to the music, to your body, to the people around you — the floor becomes secondary.
.
So that rug wasn’t a limitation.
It was a reminder.
.
Just dance.
And cut the rug. 🏠
