What happens when thousands of people make one small change to their yard each week for 12 weeks? Something worth being part of.
Robin Wall Kimmerer said it perfectly — tiny changes add up to something big. 🌎🌿

Happy Earth Day 🌎 🌱
With climate changes and our human footprint causing unease for our future, we offer this reminder: Mother Nature has always offered what we need.
When we practice reciprocity, and honor our land, she will give back. If you feel uncertain about how we move forward from here: look to your forests, and all that they provide. A nature based solution, just outside of our doors that can help ease the impact of climate imbalances.
We choose to share in the hope that our small actions can have great impact. Gather your community, protect your forests, and plant, baby, plant.

Happy winter solstice, planters 🌱✨
Join us today at 4 pm EST for our first community plant circle. Plant circles were started as a way to cultivate connection, inspire one another, and hold discourse for our planet.
Last week, a team of Plant Baby Plant co-conspirators gathered together for a generous, grounding conversation about plants, people, and land care with Dr. Gary Paul Nabhan and Sabestine Hernandez.
I hope you’ll gather with us around our virtual hearth, sipping something warm. The link is in our bio.
Wishing you warmth and light.

The land loves you back.
In this week’s episode of The Nature Of, @willowonearth sits down with @robinwallkimmerer , founder of @plantbabyplantmvmt , author of Braiding Sweetgrass, and member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation.
Together, they explore the shift from learning about to learning from nature, understanding that the land loves us back, and how the humble serviceberry can show us what a true gift economy looks like.

#GivingTuesday is a wonderful initiative to give back to your community and one way to participate is through gift economies.
If you are not sure where to start with gift economies, one wonderful guide is Robin Wall Kimmerer’s The Serviceberry, a bold and inspiring vision for how to orient our lives around gratitude, reciprocity, and community, based on the lessons of the natural world.
What is the work of a nature writer? What is the work of a neighbor? Of a friend? Of a citizen of this world?
Our presence on Turtle Island is both a gift and a responsibility.

"When we give gratitude to the land, it heightens our consciousness of living in such a way that the land will be grateful for us."
Robin Wall Kimmerer, author of 'Braiding Sweetgrass' and 'The Serviceberry,' reflects on morning rituals and finding peace, nearly one year after the publication of 'The Serviceberry.' 🌿
What daily rituals help you find peace?
This last week, @robinwallkimmerer opened up our first Plant Baby Plant community event at the Brushwood Center. The community gathered together to create pieces of art made solely from this earth. To honor the world that we live in, to celebrate the beauty of what we are provided, and to show that we can create without destruction. A beautiful celebration and a powerful gathering. Robin will be continuing to activate these events (which we lovingly refer to as “blooms”). Please reach out to see how your community can get involved and what you can do to help grow the Plant Baby Plant movement.
@brushwoodcenter works collaboratively with community partners, artists, health care providers, and scientists to improve health equity and access to nature through community, nature, and the arts. Be sure to check out Brushwood’s fall exhibition, featuring new work from artist Lydia Cheshewalla @goodwithcoffee , in partnership with Center for Humans & Nature @humansandnature , Before Dreams are the Last Place We Find You, closing Sunday, November 2nd.

“At a time when our voices are finally being lifted up and heard and becoming part of the curriculum, to have diverse perspectives and lived experiences erased from library shelves, from bookstores is, to me, an assault on our fundamental freedoms.”
