We were cutting the tracks at Paradise Studios when Jeremy Paul introduced Mark and me to a guy from Castle Music who said he wanted us to sign a publishing deal for the songs. We were wary and in hindsight should have had a lawyer vet the arrangement, but Jeremy persuaded us to sign it, so we did. We signed all our copyrights away for our first songs for a ridiculously low split with no advance and no legal advice to castle Music. It was a dumb dumb thing to do, and it made us wary, maybe too wary about signing anything forever after.
