There’s something really special about singing your own stories.
“Simple Man” is a song I wrote about compassion, kindness, and our shared humanity. It tells the story of an immigrant beginning again in a new place, whether by choice or in search of safety. These journeys are filled with courage, but also with challenges we may never fully see.
A reminder that empathy matters. That kindness matters. We still have so much to learn about showing up for one another. 🙏🏻
Mit Robin McKelle erlebten wir am 20. März 2026 bei The Voice in Concert einen unvergesslichen Jazzabend. Mit ihrem Album Impressions of Ella kehrt die New Yorker Sängerin mit Wahlwohnsitz in Paris zu ihren traditionellen Jazz-Wurzeln zurück. An diesem Abend interpretierte sie vorwiegend Songs ihres großen musikalischen Vorbilds Ella Fitzgerald auf ihre ganz eigene Weise. Robin McKelle ehrt Ellas zeitloses Erbe mit großem Respekt und verleiht den Stücken gleichzeitig eine frische, moderne Note. Wir finden, das ist ihr wunderbar gelungen.
We had an unforgettable jazz evening with Robin McKelle at The Voice in Concert on March 20, 2026. With her album Impressions of Ella, the New York singer, now based in Paris, returns to her traditional jazz roots. That evening, she mostly performed songs by her great musical inspiration, Ella Fitzgerald, interpreting them in her own unique way. Robin McKelle honors Ella’s timeless legacy with deep respect while adding her own fresh and contemporary touch. We think she succeeded wonderfully.

My best friend asked me to sing Edelweiss — a song that has always carried more than just melody.
To me, it speaks of resilience, of quiet love for home, and of hope that endures even in the face of uncertainty. In times when voices are challenged and truths feel fragile, music becomes its own kind of expression - a gentle but powerful form of dissent.
