Thrilled to share that Pacific Weave is heading to the 2026 Salt Spring Film Festival alongside so many incredible films and running from February 27 to March 1. I am honoured to bring this film back to the island where we shot it, alongside the incredible basket maker Joan Carrigan.
One of the first things I wanted to do when moving to Vancouver Island was learning the stories of local artists shaped by the West Coast. That wish led me to Joan, who discovered her passion for basket weaving while travelling to the South Pacific. Isn’t it inspiring when travel reveals your calling? Over three days on Salt Spring, Joan opened up about her journey, the mentors who guided her here, and now her own role passing knowledge to the next generation. It was exciting to see Pacific Weave screened at the Victoria Film Festival last year. But I feel particularly grateful to see Pacific Weave back on Salt Spring, back to where it began. It feels like closing the loop.
