what’s reality? by @robincwolf
do we see the world as it truly is? in this project, he challenges “classical realism“ – the naive assumption that our senses copy the outside world one-to-one.
scientifically speaking, our image of the world is a construct: the brain uses light stimuli merely as raw material to construct a model of reality that ensures our survival. his installation captures this moment of construction and calls it into question.
in his work, light and motif are refracted and fragmented by the constant movement of water. the result is a projection that evades any static definition. the distortion reveals that properties such as shape and color are not fixed constants, but only emerge through the interplay of light, medium, and observer.
inspired by Stephen Hawking, he shows that there is no „single“ true reality. just as a goldfish perceives a distorted but entirely consistent world through its curved bowl, the installation creates a reality that is unique in every moment and for every observer. the visible is manipulable, fleeting, and deeply subjective.
he wants to invite the viewer to let go of the security of the “fixed image“ and to perceive reality for what it is physically and philosophically: a fascinating, ever-changing model of light, shadow and interpretation.

robin c wolf (@robincwolf ) is a Berlin based photographer and installation artist whose practice challenges the the traditional flatness and surmy practice consciously transcends the traditional flatness.
As a photographer, robin considers light not just a tool, but the very origin of what we define as reality. but do we see the world as it truly is? In his work, he challenges “classical realism“ – the naive assumption that our senses copy the outside world one-to-one. Scientifically speaking, our image of the world is an illusion: our brain uses light stimuli merely as raw material to construct a model of reality that ensures our survival.
Featured in our upcoming exhibition, robin presents a work consisting of a projection basin filled with water, containing fragments of photographs. The work captures this moment of construction and calls it into question. in my work, light and motif are refracted and fragmented by the constant movement of water. the result is a projection that evades any static definition. the distortion reveals that properties such as shape and color are not fixed constants, but only emerge through the interplay of light, medium, and observer.
