I have been looking at this photo for a while. I took it yesturday. @edawdas my bro, and ex housemate, with @laradotdesign . And their 6 week old baby. There is something mesmerizing about their happiness. Their relationship, and their newborn. Which makes me really happy too, because I also know it’s not just on the photo, but the photo I feel, absolutely captures it. So glad those happy couples exists 😁
Liberia was not what I expected. Through this trip with Arise from Ashes, who does work so remarkable, empowering young men, and women, that they just got awarded from the Diaspora after one 2-3 year of operation. I was able to document a few of the lives that were transformed through their help and assistance. And it’s just beautiful to see, what little love and locally managed support can do. I felt joy of living, hospitality and safety. If you want, make a loving donation : arise-from-ashes.org
Back from a long road trip across Ukraine to film testimonies and delivering some material help on the way. I’m still digesting the interviews, the encounters, the heroic attitude of some people that war reveals, the resilience through distress, the sounds of sirens at night, and hearing explosions around. And in the midst of all that, solidarity, initiatives, courage, solution oriented people. I felt inspired and renewed with the acute sense of not taking freedom, family, security and health for granted.
I’m leaving this valley in Asturias with a sense and taste of a different way of living. A cosmopolitan village and community of what I heard neamed neo peasants, in an area where sometimes villages have been completely abandoned. Spanish, Belgian, Brasilian, Colombian, Dutch, Argentian, people and families who decided to live life slower, more connected, and closer to nature. Some renovate a house slowly, Some teaching remote, some grow their vegetable. just a big sense of community. I should’ve counted to how many hugs and abrazos I saw and got per hour. Anyway, beautiful place, experience and people. ❤️
Final clap of the shoot Archipelago, in Asturias. In th midst of long night shifts, rain, boat, engine failure changing the planning, a great and hard working team, unique shooting sets, talented director @lucasdelfresno and DOP @toni.avidal , this is going to stay in our memories. Choche, tough and experienced fisherman, actor in this film, said this has been my craziest experience on sea 😄
