Detail of ‘Das Haus’ vinyl (first image) in Lothar’s show ‘Der Geschenkte Gaul’ at @petrarinckgalerie in Düsseldorf on until May - a meditation on his childhood home in Günzburg, Bavaria that his parent’s built and which was demolished last year. It includes wall paintings and drawings inspired by the original architect’s plans and elevations. ‘The house - and the dreams and visions of it I had as a boy - was almost like a person to me. It drew me back and unleashed memories from my childhood.’ @lothargoetz #günzburg #hildegardknef #dashaus
Post-war Bauhaus - the buildings of the HfG Ulm (Hochschule für Gestaltung Ulm / Ulm School of Design) designed by Max Bill in 1955 (who‘d been a student at the Dessau Bauhaus in the 20s) and set up by him together with Inge Scholl and Otl Aicher. Amazing ensemble of blocks up on the Kuhberg outside Ulm - all exposed concrete walls, timber ceilings and steel and timber furniture and fittings. Only remained open until 1968. Fascinating permanent exhibition @hfg.archiv.ulm - it was essentially teaching the design of democracy in post-war Europe #ulm #maxbill #ingescholl #otlaicher #hfgulm
