Turkey is a Thanksgiving staple for many Americans, but at the Gentle Barn Animal Sanctuary in Santa Clarita, these birds have a lot more to offer than just food.
Many of the turkeys here were rescued from Thanksgiving dinners and now help visitors find a sense of barnyard calm.

Led by a music composer who moonlights as a bluegrass player, Spectrum Bluegrass is a group dedicated to bringing neurodiverse people together through their love of playing banjo, mandolin and guitar.

Fans of horror mazes are in for a treat this year, with a historic West Hills house transforming into a Halloween haunt for the first time in decades.
Built in the 1860s, the Shadow Ranch House is said to actually be haunted by a young girl who allegedly died there, as well as a cook who used to work on the premises and a cast of other spirits.
The “Shadow Fest” haunt will be open Friday, Oct. 24, and Saturday, Oct. 25, from 6 to 9 p.m. More info at LAist.com.

It may look a little post-apocalyptic right now, but L.A. County has a big, multi-million dollar plan to turn part of the decaying “Great Stone Mother” into housing while keeping architectural details intact.
The plan is to have the old hospital become the anchor for a city within a city, with affordable housing, mental health treatment beds and more envisioned for the area.
