🚨 Friday Night Pop-Up Event 🚨
After I put the final touches on the gallery I had 30 minutes before doors opened to stand in front of the space by myself. In that moment I experienced feelings I had never felt before..anxiety, nervousness, and excitement of what was to come in the next couple of hours, as I was about to let people get a glimpse into my head and the work that represents me as an artist. I felt as if I was entering a new era of my life and a new journey was about to begin. I said a couple prayers, got myself together, and opened the doors. I could narrate the whole night but the pictures and videos are evidence enough. To those who stopped by and got a chance to see the art just know it meant the world to me, and to everyone I got a chance to speak with throughout the weekend, you reminded me of why I began this journey in the first place. 🙏
⚠️ Set Up Day 2 ⚠️
Julia flew in and immediately helped us get the bar set up, while Alex the handyman helped us hang the neon sign outside. I made a quick pit stop with my sister Ava at a nearby self car wash to scrub the graffiti off the U-Haul. Back at the gallery, we started hanging the paintings with help from my mom, while Genevieve and Julia worked on putting the set together. I stenciled the front door to promote the show, along with a bunch of last-minute signs that somehow ended up being the most honest representation of me and the collection.
🚧 Set Up Day 1 🚧
Got down to Miami in the U-Haul and had to park a block down from the gallery because there was no parking in front of the space. Had to walk the canvases up the block 1 by 1 while Genevieve watched guard in the truck. After, we walked the plants we got at a nursery in Kendall early that day into the gallery. Had to take a break and eat some McDonalds so we had energy to set up the rest of the night. Continued to set up and call it a night at 3am and realized the uhaul had been tagged 😂
