In January, Welcome Home officially opened its doors. We co-produced and hosted a week-long show “Never Say Die” a collection by Emily Colvin - who creates work as Projects At Large. “Never Say Die” is a collection dedicated to exploring themes of resilience and renewal. Through striking neon sculptures and ethereal paintings on reclaimed glass, the exhibition invited viewers to reflect on histories that we embody and what has shaped beliefs and values in our core.
Emily was the artist in residence at WH from mid December ‘24 - end of January ‘25 and it was so amazing to watch her ideas turn over and over again and how we were able to create this space together. I truly couldn’t think of a better way to have cut the ribbon.
We transformed the house into a gallery. People showed up. There was food (colbychurch + salts cure), live music (isaac) beautiful conversation and lots of hugs. And even stick and poke tattoos! (nat moonhill)
We debated postponing our vision due to the fires in Los Angeles, but after careful consideration ultimately decided that the themes explored in her collection felt serendipitously timed. And people need art.
I want to say a big ole thank you to all of the lovely humans who came through, supported us in one way or another.
