Rob Chase is a lettering artist, graphic designer, and musician whose work lives at the intersection of systematicity and improvisation. His practice is rooted in traditional sign painting, calligraphy, mural work, and mirth. Rob has shown work at Austin staples such as Pietsch House and The East Side Studio Tour, and his lettering can be seen at many beloved small businesses. This exhibition marks his final gallery showing in Austin before riding off into the sunset for New York City, where he will continue to expand his lettering practice across new spaces and scales.

Lettering by ATX Artist Rob Chase. Rob is originally from Pittsburg, PA and has lived and worked in Austin, TX since 2014. He fell into calligraphy in 2017, a passion which opened the door to other styles of lettering including sign painting, hand lettering, and muraling. Informed by his background in music theory and composition, Rob’s work seeks to explore avenues of creativity, humor, and improvisation while paying homage to the structures of traditional lettering and typography.
