The hulls rock is 80% mental game. Don’t get me wrong, it is challenging with the crux on the second step, right in the middle. Its high consequence deters most. But I think a lot more people can get it . Break it down and visualize.
Had a blast at the @hardmtbleague skills event hosted by @braydonbringhurst yesterday. Primo dirt and high vibes. Love how this little big community of ours really levels up the support for MTB and the people in it🤘
Thanks for hosting and letting me grab some photos!

Part of why I love photography is the wondering.
The quiet “what if” moments.
What if I add light here.
What if I move the shadow there
What if I place the subject here
That morning was no different.
Sometimes it’s not about getting the shot.
It’s about following the question and seeing where it leads.
I’m always open to collabs or people letting practice these shots with them. Let me know if you’d like to join by sending me a dm
Have you heard of the Cost Per Use Theory?
It’s the idea that something isn’t expensive — if you actually use it.
People love to say mountain biking is an expensive sport. And sure… upfront? It can be.
Let’s say your bike costs $5,000.
That sounds like a lot.
But cost isn’t what you pay once.
Cost is what you pay over time.
Ride 3 times a week.
That’s roughly 150 rides a year.
Do that for 5 years — which most riders easily do — and you’re at 750 rides.
$5,000 divided by 750 rides = about $6.67 per ride.
Less than lunch.
Less than a movie ticket.
Less than most day passes for anything.
And that’s not even counting miles.
If your average ride is 12–15 miles, you’re looking at thousands of miles over the life of the bike.
Cost per mile? Pennies.
Now compare that to:
– A ski pass every season
– Greens fees every weekend
– League registration fees
– Ice time
– Court rentals
– Monthly memberships
– Drop-in class fees
Most sports charge you just to show up.Mountain biking doesn’t. Trails are mostly free to use.
No lift tickets.
No tee times.
No season sign-ups.
No entrance gate every ride.
Just trails.
Your legs.
And time outside.
And here’s the real return:
Cardio.
Strength.
Skill progression.
Self confidence.
Sunlight.
friends and Community.
Mental reset
All baked into one ride.
If you actually use your bike, it might be one of the cheapest sports per use you can have.
The people who say it’s expensive usually don’t ride enough.
Now I’m curious: do you agree?
A Saturday moon selfie
I’ve grown to love these moon alignments. I started out with alignments of structures with the moon. The Idaho state capital, Boise depot, etc. But now I’ve grown fond of adding the human element into the frame. It always feels good to capture a great photo. But when I’m capturing something that doesn’t happen often goes as expected, it makes my day and puts a smile on my face.
HMU if you want to work together

Still in awe about the lights we had last week
When the lights really took off, i didn’t have my headlamp on. No need. It’s almost distracting having the headlamp on due to the tunnel vision effect pulling my view in to such a small lit area. Additionally, with tunnel vision mode deactivated, i felt like my senses were heightened. I felt and experienced so much more.
These selfies were fun. I could’ve stayed out all night. But I had to pull the plug at 2am so I wasn’t a zombie the next day. We have been lucky to get these shows this year

Chasing Comet C/2023 A3 on the bike
This week has been out of this world. Rich with experience and new things. Beyond grateful for what I get to do and having those that spark that stoke! From friends like @benwincklerphotography letting me pull their ear for photography thoughts. To my lady, @lyndsy_foundation for encouraging me chase ideas like these.
I’m learning late in life, all you have to do is ask.
