Our recent side trip to Palm Springs included coming upon the Shag store. We just happened to go in to look at his artwork, and he was there! And the reason? A car collector group was having a meetup and coordinated a photo shoot, planning for this event and this date fora year, and we just randomly happened to be there! All the cars were Studebaker Avanti and nearly all were 1965-66 model year. There were a couple that were from a more recent iteration, custom made in the late 70s until 1980. I bought a Shag T-shirt and he signed it!
We go on walks. Every day. Well, if the weather totally sucks maybe not. Not in, say, freezing rain. I’d rather it be -10 than have to deal with freezing rain. So at least one or two days a week we’ll get on a bus or a train and go to places we don’t visit often to keep it fresh. Walking is part of my physical therapy. Today we got on Metro-North and went up the Hudson Valley to Tarrytown and took the Hudson Rail Link bus across the bridge to Nyack. A cute town with nice shops and restaurants. A bookstore that defies description. A beautiful park along the river. Edward Hopper lived there. So did Helen Hayes. Nice place. Had lunch at the Art Cafe, an excellent restaurant with a highly rated bathroom.
We neglected to get breakfast foods, only getting dinner supplies. We made it to the diner! An excellent breakfast! Fourth photo is out the window of the diner. First three are at the bus stop just feet from our building. Waiting for the bus we got covered with wet, sticky snow in minutes, brushed each other off, got covered again. The bus came in only five minutes.
NY1 just aired a promo for a report on, and I kid you not, “BLACH HISTORY MONTH” demonstrating some outstanding proofreading skills in their news room…
Just saw this… sort of a slice of Theatre of the Absurd. Reminiscent of something by Ionesco. I went by myself, confident Jayne would not be into it. A wacky comedy about the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand. Not for everyone. Patrick Page is, as usual, incredible.
Ok, so it LOOKS like a view from a nice hotel, but it’s actually from my room at the NYU Langone Medical Center… at this advanced age I felt like crap all night and went to their ER, and I have acute appendicitis! I’ll be under the knife first thing tomorrow morning…
