For one rainy afternoon, Manhattan slowed down for the last diplomat: a Mercedes 600 Pullman Grosser by

21 feet of hand-built German diplomacy floating through SoHo like it had a police escort. From the back seat, the city looked confused for a second, People stopped mid-conversation with their phones up and jaw dropping …
Not many cars can stop people in Manhattan anymore.
A 600 Pullman still does. 🫡
This version was restored and reworked by
@rob_ida with subtle custom touches that respect the original character of the car rather than overpower it. Leather sofa/bed interior, champagne setup, refined details, and the kind of craftsmanship that keeps the Pullman feeling period-correct while still alive in modern New York.
Back when these cars were new, they were privately ordered and commissioned. World leaders, diplomats, royalty, industrialists, and heads of state used the 600 Pullman as transportation and status. If a Rolls-Royce was luxury, the Pullman was political power.
Built by Mercedes-Benz between the 1960s and early 1980s, the 600 Grosser became one of the most recognizable chauffeur-driven sedans ever made. Hydraulic everything, massive proportions, hand-built details, and enough rear legroom to feel more like a private lounge than a car.
