Rescue isn’t just cuddles and happy endings. It’s $23,000 for Minty’s surgery and hospitalization after aspiration. It’s board and train and ongoing medical care for Juniper. It’s daily meds, emergency vet visits, and critical decisions at 2 a.m. It’s watching bills climb higher and higher — and doing it anyway, because they deserve a chance.
These dogs are worth saving. But this level of care isn’t sustainable without real support.

This is a bit of a rant so bear with me. I’m just frustrated.
You want to know why there are so many Bulldogs and Frenchies with health issues? Because so many Bulldogs and Frenchies with health issues are being bred. And not just by backyard and commercial Greeders.
I spoke to a show breeder recently, and they told me dogs should NOT be bred if they have Hemi vertebrae, micro trachea, hypoplastic trachea, ME, Inverted/impacted tail, entropion, closed nostrils, 2 copies of HUU or Cystin-uria gene (bladder stones) long soft palate, luxating patellas, moderate and above hip dysplasia.
They should also NOT be bred if they produce dogs with spina bifida or hydrocephalus.
But we all know that’s NOT what’s happening.
People often equate AKC breeders with quality, healthy dogs, But that’s not the case. The AKC is just a registry that people pay to join. It has nothing to do with health.
And being a show breeder doesn’t make you ethical.
I’m told that some just mask or surgically fix their dog’s issues and show/breed anyway.
I’m told there’s a top show bulldog who produces puppies with spina bifida but continues to be bred. If this is true, how many SB pups have been euthanized or dumped on rescue because of this?
If anyone knows who that dog is, please let us know!
Humans are failing the breeds they claim to love.
Where does it all end?
At the very least, all breeders should be regulated and required to fully health test their dogs.

We rescued this sweet little lady just 3 weeks ago, and she’s already become foster dad Joe’s tiny shadow. Cece is calm, cuddly, and fully committed to a lifestyle of soft beds, cozy naps, and soaking up attention from literally anyone willing to give it. Humans or dog, she loves a good cuddle!

This sweet old codge has been through eye surgery, airway procedures, and plenty of recovery time but you’d never know it now. She’s finally comfortable, breathing easier, sleeping soundly, and enjoying life exactly the way a bulldog should.
Miss B is equal parts proper lady and silly bulldozer. She loves her walks, adores snacks, and will happily offer you her paw or a tiny little whine when she thinks breakfast should be served immediately. She toddles around the house with the confidence of someone who pays the mortgage!
She’s dog friendly with respectful boundaries, wonderful with people, and happiest when she’s near her humans. Her only real requirement is a simple daily wrinkle and eye cleaning routine to keep this gorgeous girl feeling her best. (Basic bulldog stuff)
After everything she’s overcome, Beatrice deserves a place to land and with people who adore her as much as we do. 💖

Emorie Starling’s before and after✨
On Monday, she had her hernia repaired, her pyloric stenosis corrected, and was finally spayed. The difference already is incredible.
Before, she sounded so loud, couldn’t eat normally and gasped for air constantly. Even laying down peacefully seemed hard for her body.
Now? She’s QUIET. She can finally breathe comfortably, nap peacefully, and relax without struggling. Seeing her truly rest feels emotional in the best way.
Thank you to every single person who donated, shared, supported, and rooted for Emorie. She is here because people cared. She got this surgery because people showed up for her. Last night we said goodbye to Agatha Cricket. 💔
Rescue has hard days and today is one of them for us. Sometimes despite every effort and every ounce of love poured into them… we still lose them. But this is exactly why we do this work. Hospice cases matter.
Agatha did not leave this world abandoned, scared, or forgotten. She left wrapped in comfort, surrounded by love, and cared for until her very last breath. For every dog we cannot “save”, we can still change everything about their final days. We can make sure they know kindness, safety, and love.
Thank you to Lizzie for giving Agatha the most beautiful final day, taking her to the beach, loving her and holding her until the very last moment. Allison, Terri and Jamie also for loving on her. There is no greater gift than that. 💙

🌹 Hugh NibbleStar is here for the right reasons… love, snacks, and a forever home.
Hugh is a 6 year old Frenchie with soulful eyes, a tiny little lip, and the biggest heart. After being found stray and undergoing surgery to remove a facial mass (which thankfully came back clear), this sweet boy is finally ready for the peaceful, adored life he deserves.
He’s the perfect mix of playful and couch potato. Hugh loves toys, chasing balls, hanging with dog friends, supervising neighbourhood children, and then dramatically collapsing into his bed for a nap afterwards. He also happens to LOVE bath time.
Like many Frenchies, Hugh comes with a few maintenance requirements like medicated baths, eye drops, allergy management, and a family who understands that “short walk” energy is sometimes very real. But he gives back tenfold in love, loyalty, and hilarious little quirks.
He’s house trained, crate trained, dog friendly, kid friendly, and fully prepared to become the love of someone’s life.

Lucy Lunasky and Sassyfrass Raven are somehow STILL looking for their forever homes 🩷🖤
Just two tiny girls pottering around the garden causing pippy chaos, stealing toys, tripping over their own feet, and being outrageously cute while doing it.
Lucy Lunasky (pink) is all wiggles, kisses, and puppy nonsense. Sassyfrass Raven (orange) is her equally mischievous partner in crime. Together they are a full-time operation of zoomies, cuddles, and tiny diva behaviour.
These girls were born in foster care after we rescued their very pregnant mama from the shelter, mom and the rest of the litter found homes and now they’re ready for families of their own.

Figbert Flumpkins is so grateful to be in a foster home soaking up all the attention he can. We posted him a few weeks ago when we saved him from the shelter. His foster Laura said he is the most handsome good boy. His skin is still a mess and work in progress but is slowly getting better. His tail is really bad but the vet is hopeful the hair will grow back once all his skin and inflammation is under control.
