finished a novel draft!! It’s a mess & after 2.5 years of this I still have so many drafts to come, but the best part about getting to the end of a draft is being able to go back in &—given enough time, work, devotion, play, rigor, & luck, gods willing, knocking on wood—once again take up the attempt to make it so much better

i make only enjoyable & highly attainable New Year’s resolutions, if i make them at all, & so today i resolve that in the upcoming year i will eat more cheese
what makes this even more attainable is that i will eat any cheese, from the fancy to the not at all. aged chèvre, decrepit sliced american cheese suspiciously curling at the edges, stilton with port, jasper hill’s soft-ripened harbison, any & every morsel from the cheese cart at a restaurant, cheese you eat with a spoon, the melted cheese in a taco bell quesadilla, formerly melted cheese that has hardened, all of it, so help me. i will eat it
here’s to the new year, wishing you joy & abundance & perhaps more cheese
