In late spring 2022, the Pipeline Fire roared to life just six miles north of Flagstaff, Arizona. One month later, things got worse when flash flooding shot through the area, taking eroding topsoil with it and heavily damaging the 13-mile Inner Basin water pipeline, which provides about 20 percent of Flagstaff’s water supply. RMEF supplied critical funding along with the Arizona Game and Fish Department and other partners to repair three damaged wildlife water drinkers along the pipeline and create two new ones. Watch the work that benefits mule deer, pronghorn antelope, black bears, wild turkey and other bird and animal life ➡️ @RMEF_Official link in bio #rmef #rockymountainelkfoundation #conservation #restoringbiggamecountry

“When you look at what RMEF accomplished in the past year, and what we’re working toward for the future, 42 is not just another anniversary,” said Kyle Weaver, RMEF president and CEO. “We’re proud of the wins we’ve had in land conservation, access, habitat stewardship, research and advocacy for hunters of elk and other big game species. But we’re also focused on looking ahead to ensure big game across the nation has quality habitat and to ensure hunters can access it.” 42 years of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation 🎉 What year did you become a RMEF member? Heavy snow and brutal storms took down fencing that RMEF volunteers built in 2023 to protect a sub-alpine meadow, so we went back to fix it. In 2025, passionate RMEF volunteers gathered in the Oak Creek Wildlife Area in Washington to repair the fence, spray invasive thistle, and haul trash out of the Rock Creek Unit. Thanks to partners like @ALPSOutdoorZ , this project protected meadow habitat for elk, bighorn sheep, deer, and other wildlife. Since 1990, RMEF has conserved over 111,000 acres in this area alone. Every volunteer day is another chapter in that story. #alpsoutdoorZ #RMEF #elk #partners
