So excited for this! JUST PLAY & the TSG will be holding space in a PASEO2024 Community Tent over at Kit Carson Park this SUNDAY 4-6PM! If you are a self-identified songwriter, or perhaps have even just taken a stab at it once or twice, you are the ideal participant! We'll be helping each other feed and water any works-in-progress that may benefit from another's fresh perspective. Perhaps a song has haunted you for decades, never finding its completion! THIS coming SATURDAY 8/24, 11am-1pm at the Twirl campus in the heart of town (225 Camino de la Placita). Please do join us, kids of all ages (0-100+), as we roll up our sleeves and dive in to the NATURE OF SOUND: an exploration of sound/music in the natural world, in our bodies, and in our common families of terrestrial instruments (PERCUSSION, WIND, STRINGS)! JUST PLAY Presents a MUSICAL SANDBOX @ IMAGINE Children's Museum (104 Des Georges Ln) ! Join us in kicking off our JUST PLAY Workshop Series, FRIDAY July 19, 2-5pm! This 1st session is all about getting messy with sound by playing with a wide variety of instruments alongside others of all experience-levels. Will we make folk music? Jazz? Cumbia? Hiphop? Baroque-abilly? All bets are off! I'm proud to announce that I've been awarded a Community Arts Fellowship by @taoscenterforthearts with support from @neaarts ! As director and curator of this project, Just Play, I'll be facilitating a series of dynamic, immersive music-educational pop-ups around the community and in schools, as well as conducting research & outreach within our regional Music Ed landscape. To say this is a dream come true is an understatement. It is the beginning of many dreams, and a long vision. Deep gratitude to the TCA, to the Fellowship selection committee, and to my fellow cohort. I'm in great company!
