Apologies for not only some of my substandard posting lately (Friday's post was total s**t that I took down) but also a bit more of an absence here recently. I realized when I larped on that other person for not realizing one of the ad she images she included in her Ralph commentary post was actually AI generated, that maybe I was being judgemental and letting the negativity that is and unfortunate bi-product of social media run away from me.
Anyyyhow, I found the matching pants to this 2023 jacket recently. I do wish they were higher rise and a bit fuller leg (re: I bought the biggest size they had - took the waist in and had both seems of the legs from the upper knee down, let out) but I'm still happy to have the complete suit even though this jacket did work fine as a warm weather separate with white, or ivory pants. Also since it's db, you don't see the rise anyways, but still, I'd rather sweat through it in August than remove the jacket and expose the 11" (on what started out as a tagged 38!!!) substandard which is especially weird looking on a pant with double forward pleat. I am glad to see when I tried on the latest seersucker pants during spring break at the 2025 2026 pleated pants are a little bit higher rise and full of the leg standard, which is a move in the right direction. I don't think it'll get to the 9 1/2 inches like that one Of Purple Label suit I saw at Neimans the other week, but if they could at least go to eight or 8 1/2 inches on a size 34, 36 waist and maybe give a hair more extra fabric in the seam, so the Polo customer has the option like the Purple Label guy does and that would be amazing.

Really didn't think I'd be wearing tweed on Justin Timberlake Joke Day yesterday but here we are. Late-'70s jacket too although clearly by that time you can see it was already morphing into the classic '80s cut and had dropped the wild lapels and giant pocket flaps from the earliest years of the brand circa '68 to 1973/'74. I also still can't fully wrap my mind around putting bootcut jeans on again either every single time I do, since I l happened to live through the early 2000s TMZ era of fashion once, but to quote another famous pop star, "Never say never(errr)."

1. This isn't me advocating you go buy all the orphans on eBay - I found the jacket at an off-price retailer this week and managed to source the matching pants in my size on Vestaire yesterday... in France.
2. Since I'll have to wait a bit to receive them and make it a complete suit, I figured why not (Keaton cutaway collar aside) completely bite Instant Graham's style in the meantime. lol.
3. Even if you're going to wear pinstripe jackets with odd pants, I still say don't buy orphans so you at least have the option for variety and versatility. If the jacket is taking up real estate in your closet, make sure it's hanging over the pants.
4. While this jacket and the pants on the way to me as we speak were a 2024 release sold as separates, the brand IS now currently selling it again as a complete suit for 2026 which generally has the added benefit of coming with pants that have a 1" higher rise relative to size than when they are sold as separates (why brand! Why must you do that!!!) so while it will likely cost you more, that is something to consider. Mind you, spend-to-get is this Friday so you could at least save $500 this weekend on it!

Listen the fact is the 'Big' '90s cut is not for everyone. The shoulders are broad, the pads are huge, the pants are massive, and even when you take the body in to give it a bit more shape like I did here, it's still a hard silhouette for a lot of people outside of the type who live in NYC and hangout at Lucien to feel like they can pull off in 2026. But that fact is it was still a part of the brand's history from '91 to '97 and that's the point of this handle so it will not go ignored! Canon must be discussed.

I know you've seen it done *way* too many times already this week and the snotty W.
