Milan and Bologna a week ago—in a blur.
This is why we love what we do, and the fuel that keeps us going: new friends and shared tables, new perspectives and new ideas, and a bright outlook for the season ahead.

BIG NEWS from the RV team
This week, Laura is headed to Bologna as one of a small group of scholarship delegates selected from around the world through the Slow Food Negroni Week Fund!
Laura will be attending as a delegate at the Slow Wine Fair in Bologna—a major gathering of producers, buyers, and industry leaders with Slow Food at the heart of it, spotlighting wines rooted in thoughtful farming, transparency, and culture.
We’re proud that she’ll be representing women in wine, and also representing our Riverview community. This is one of those special opportunities to learn, build relationships, and bring the best of it back to JC.
Stay tuned for postcards from Italy 🇮🇹

NEW ARRIVAL: Clovis Ochin
Clovis Ochin is one of those names that feels less like a producer and more like a symbol of natural wine culture. A longtime fixture in the Paris wine scene, Clovis has spent years championing wines that feel alive, joyful, expressive, and completely unforced.
His own bottles carry that same energy: vibrant, a little wild, and meant to be shared with friends.

Day 2 + 3 at Slow Wine Fair!
Day 2 started close to home for Laura with a masterclass on Castelli di Jesi (in her home region of Le Marche). It was a love letter to Verdicchio and why it can feel so precise, salty, and quietly powerful.
Then we hit the exhibitor floor: chasing new discoveries from international producers, checking in with old friends, and doing our best to keep our palates alive.
We wrapped with “Sustainability through the Buyers’ Eyes,” digging into how responsible farming, fair pricing, long-term relationships, and transparency aren’t buzzwords; they’re the foundation for wines you can truly trust.
Day 3 opened with “Creating Community with Mountain Wines,” spotlighting growers working in high-elevation vineyards and the bigger story behind them: challenging landscapes, depopulation, and how wine can help rebuild local life. A standout voice was Claudio Zucchino from Jujuy, Argentina, making wine at around 4,000 meters; one of the highest winemaking regions in the world. But aside from the extreme elevation, was the intention in protecting and preserving the area’s ancient Incan history, bringing visibility to that cultural legacy, and keeping it alive through farming and storytelling.
Then came a moment we recalled valued: the Slow Food delegates recap. Where the delegates took turns sharing what they’d learned, what surprised them, and what they’re bringing back to their own communities, while offering real feedback on how this program can keep growing; with more representation at the table, deeper access for underrepresented voices, better tools for transparency and accountability across the supply chain, and a stronger commitment to worker dignity and fair labor practices.
We finished with more tastings and a deep dive into coffee’s artisanal journey from farm to cup—because apparently we weren’t done learning yet. 😅
We’re leaving Bologna inspired, grateful, and full of ideas to bring back to Riverview.
Until next time, Slow Wine

Day 1 at Slow Wine Fair 🇮🇹
Started with a warm welcome at Casa Slow Food inside BolognaFiere, then jumped straight into an Alto Adige masterclass learning about the region’s co-ops and how cooperative winemaking can mean both scale and quality.
From there it was conference-to-conference; “Fairness in the Vineyard and in the Glass” unpacking the caporalato system and the producers and groups actively pushing back against worker exploitation. One of the standout voices was Irene De Barraicua of @liderescampesinas , speaking to the work of organizing and supporting farmworkers, especially women, building pathways to dignity, rights, and safer conditions in agriculture.
Next up: Women in Wine, with voices like Laura Donadoni presenting Grapes of Change and Amelia Birch @amelia.famelia reminding us how much intention, visibility, and community-building can shift an industry.
Finally, we closed out the day with a deep dive and tasting into the wines of Bairrada, Portugal led by winemaker Rui Lucas @priorlucasvinhos
