“We are strong, we are a force that cannot be ignored” Qattuu announces in Inuktitut and then English at the opening of her album, Midnight Sun. Combining throatsinging with storytelling, and rock-infused beats, Qattuu asks us to build a future by recognizing each other’s culture and creating collectively. Come out and hear more from this Inuk, Ottawa-based performer as we kick off season seven of Riverbed. Qattuu will perform alongside poet Shō Yamagushiku and novelist Whitney French on May 13 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
The night will start with an open mic, so bring a poem or short piece of prose or performance to share. This event is PWYC with a suggested donation of $20-$25.
Riverbed Reading Series is an inclusive, experimental gathering space. Part poetry reading, part musical performance, part cabaret, we are driven by the belief that the artistic spheres are connected.
