Thank you @badbunnypr for honoring and celebrating our shared humanity in this way. During the dress rehearsal, Benito spoke to us through our in-ears (even though we couldn’t all see him), thanked everyone, and reminded us that we are each the artist. He even gave a shout out those who came to the field in tree costumes🫶🏼 That reminder and this whole experience, will live in my heart forever. And it really is so true. Every single person (on and off the field, from beginning to end) helped shape this magnificent display of culture, creativity, history and art. Everyone played a special role in expanding our collective consciousness of love in this moment. And on the stage of this earth, we all have a role to play in the days ahead, no matter how big or small. My sisters and I grew up going to Puerto Rico every year for the holidays to hang out with our mother’s fam where we share the sweetest of memories. I’ll always be super proud of my Puerto Rican and Ecuadorian roots and while I was somewhat shy about it as a kid, it’s the honor of my lifetime to be the fifth (!) Rita on my mother’s side. And to my darling abuelita, who passed away ten years ago this year, I think of you everyday and I especially felt you here during the last couple weeks of rehearsals. Very excited to share this reel from the creative process behind a crucial moment in Like Water for Chocolate. This cue was particularly complex to shape, because it is an intricate emotional puzzle involving all the characters… and there is very little dialogue. The music had to carry a large part of that emotional universe. My eternal gratitude to Rita @ritabel and Ludwig @ludwigpare for their infinite talent and their incredible contribution to the emotional scale of this music. 🎶✨ Muy emocionados de compartir este reel del proceso creativo para un momento crucial de Como Agua para Chocolate. When I saw this scene in the studio with @winky_pants , I was instantly filled with warmth and knew it was a deeply touching story that Alex so beautifully composed the music for.  We spent extra time with this cue to ensure that the music truly captured the weight of this moment. I am so grateful to Alex for insisting that the take that felt the most improvised, raw and imperfect was the one that best captured the humanity of this scene. It comes as no surprise that this film ‘Who Are You, Nanu?’ continues to win awards and sweep the festivals, huge congrats to @anjiniazhar and the entire film team! Connections with grandparents are so special, and it made the opportunity to play viola for this stunning short film by @anjiniazhar all the more emotional and heartfelt. Not a day goes by where I don’t think of my grandparents. This film and its music will always be near and dear to my heart, I highly recommend seeking out this film to see it <3

This trip to Ecuador was so special— getting to hang and play music with my sisters @lcandrade & @caro_andr in the place our dad grew up before he moved to the states at 16. Seeing Guayaquil and Cuenca through the eyes of the amazing musicians, artists, and friends we met, hearing young players perform with so much heart and joy, and sharing local meals with fam and new friends—it felt like reconnecting with an undiscovered part of myself and our lineage. Shoutout to @alexjimboviteri who made this trip possible — your vision, musicianship, and dedication to the music and arts scene in Guayaquil (and beyond) is deeply moving. I’m in awe of everyone in @guayaquilchamberplayers and excited to see how it keeps growing. Thank you for the chance to make music and dream together— every concert, workshop and video collab was a true joy. Special thanks to @emiliosolla for writing such a gorgeous piece for us, @gabrieljimboviteri for being an awesome orchestra manager and tour guide, @fanyjulieta for welcoming us like family, and @dibujosdecristina & @marpa_mn for your uplifting, supportive, artistic spirits— you all made us feel at home.
