Yesterday we celebrated not one, but two things: Liberation Day and the release of The Space We Share / De Ruimte Die We Delen, a book created with the hard work, care, and love of so many people. “Freedom is always mutual. If you want to be a free person yourself, you must also be able to let others be free.” — Femke Halsema Come by the community center to get your copy, or order it through the RITA website. Thank you to everyone who helped make this book, and this beautiful day, possible. X, RITA

🤩 It’s almost time! Next Wednesday, our RITA Community Center will open its doors. It is a home for culture, education, creativity, and encounters, characterized by bringing together different groups: from queer grassroots organizations to taxi drivers, from LGBTQ+ seniors and corporations to drag kings and queens and policymakers. In that sense, the RCC is the antidote to polarization. Swipe to see what you can expect!

Iedere melding telt. Samen maken we verschil. Report Discrimination Always. —— Every report matters. @rita.community is here for anyone who experiences discrimination and for bystanders who witness it. We focus on improving safety for the LHBTQI+ community and others who are often treated unfairly or excluded. Reports made through RITA help us collect valuable data. With that data, we work with institutions and companies to drive real change and make the world safer for everyone. Together we make a difference. Report Discrimination Always

Coming this 5th of May!! The Space We Share / De ruimte die we delen. ❤️ Your guide for a safer world for everyone, by RITA community. This book isn’t just for those who sometimes feel unsafe. It’s equally a guide for anyone who wants to understand, learn, and contribute. From allyship to hands-on advice. Inside, you’ll find: A book that makes social safety tangible for everyone. The queer community acts as the canary in the coal mine: their experiences with exclusion reveal what’s broken in our systems, while their courage shows what resilience truly looks like. 🇳🇱🇬🇧 One book, two languages: Dutch and English Contributors include Lotte van Eijk, Eloise van Oranje, Jerry Afriyie, Ma’MaQueen / Venus Bijleveld, Rob Jetten, Tamara Elbaz, Jeangu Macrooy, Femke Halsema, Stijn de Vries, and Edson da Graça Design: Studio FFF

We’re incredibly grateful to have been invited by Femke Halsema to share the story of RITA. To be part of the first state visit of Amalia to Amsterdam made it even more special. Moments like these remind us why we do what we do. For a safer city, together. 💜 Photo: Anne Reinke

25 years ago, at midnight on April 1st 2001, the first same-sex couples officially married in Amsterdam's city hall. The Netherlands made history. ❤️ In the years that followed, country after country followed: Belgium, Spain, Canada, South Africa, Argentina, France, Ireland, and many more. 25 years later, we celebrate this milestone. And we keep fighting. Because acceptance in the Netherlands is going backwards, not forwards. RITA exists for everyone who still faces discrimination for who they are or who they love. Your experiences matter. Your story matters. #amsterdam #queer #marriage
