Stiwdio Griffith presents Disruptive Painting, a new exhibition curated by Maison Trampoline that brings together fourteen contemporary British and Irish Painters whose work has never before been considered side-by-side. The exhibition investigates how disruption operates within painting today - whether as a formal strategy, a conceptual framework, or an intervention in the artist’s own creative routines.
What does it mean for painting—a medium with centuries of history—to be disruptive? Disruptive painting explores how painters innovate in response to new technologies, shifting social contexts, and the demands of their own practices. Through a taxonomical curatorial approach, the exhibition traces unexpected connections between artists, revealing new patterns, affinities, and divergences across their work.

This weekend we’re sharing Ross Taylor’s exhibition Divine Cargo, now on view at Galerie Russi Klenner, Berlin, until 13 December 2025.
In this new body of work, Taylor moves through a liminal zone where production and consumption blur, and where habits, compulsions, and instinct become the material of painting. Divine Cargo orbits around the idea that something precious must be carried — not an object, but habit itself: the internal mutterings, repetitions, and peripheral thoughts that shape daily life. These paintings emerge from that threshold, where imagination and hallucination collide.
Drawing on Irish and British folklore — particularly the solitary, shape-shifting Púca — Taylor’s figures merge with the suburban landscapes of his youth on the outskirts of Northwest London. Costumes, garments, and symbols operate as coded signs, revealing and concealing intent, origin, and class. Influenced by A Midsummer Night’s Dream, he stages a “play within a play” in which ordinary people become enchanted upon entering an alter-world. Here, at the edge of town, characters enter states of ecstasy and compulsive gesture; the artist becomes the nocturnal wanderer himself, escorting the cargo to its uncertain destination.

Ross Taylor’s current solo exhibition, “Divine Cargo” , continues at the gallery until December 13th.
The exhibition centers on the idea that some form of “divine cargo,” something special and precious, must be delivered safely to somewhere, or someone. The artist guides the viewer outward to the edge of town on a visionary mission, propelled by behaviors that belong to the margins of the day: to pick and scratch, wait and stare, to let attention drift from the matter at hand.
We are open Wed-Fri 12-18, and Sat 11-16
