𝘼𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙣 𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 (@iliadacharalambous with @hetrodekeukentje ) in collaboration with @riseup4rojava.netherlands warmly invites you for a filmscreening of 𝙂𝙪𝙡î𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣, 𝙇𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙍𝙤𝙨𝙚𝙨 – a documentary film by @zayneakyol which sheds light on the lives of Kurdish women fighters who are collectively fighting for a revolutionary ideal.   The film, produced in 2016 when the battle against ISIS was peaking in the Kurdish territories of Iraq and Syria, follows the women guerillas while training and defending the territories, all while embodying a revolutionary ideal advocating female empowerment. As filmmaker Zaynê Akyol follows their highly regimented lives, seasoned fighters like Rojen and Sozdar openly share with us their most intimate thoughts and dreams.   Amid rocky mountains and arid deserts, they are the future of a people and confidently serve the ideal to which they have dedicated their lives. Offering a window into this largely unknown world, the film also exposes the hidden face of this highly mediatized war: the female, feminist face of a revolutionary group united by a common vision of freedom.   As in today’s political climate the situation in Kurdish territories remains critical, we invite you to join us for a collective reading prior to the film screening that can aid us in understanding the politicized culture that keeps the Rojava revolution alive.   Het Rode Keukentje will cook a delicious dinner of dolma with pomegranate for us all, part of our fundraising efforts to support the Kurdish Red Cresent Basecamp runs on a lot of love and little money, please consider donating for your participation, we suggest something in between €3-8

Commemoration for Sara Dorşîn 18-04-2026 On the 7th of April 2019, Sarah Handelmann, nome de guerre Sara Dorşîn, was murdered by the fascist Turkish state in an airstrike targeting the Kurdish Freedom Movement. Sarah was one of the many internationalists who fell martyr in the fight for a free life. Sarah was always one of the most committed and beloved comrades contributing to various freedom struggles such as fighting the racist European border system, fighting ecological destruction as well as contributing to self-organised autonomous spaces throughout her life. In 2016, Sarah co-directed the movie Xwebûn which portraits women involved in the Kurdish Women’s Movement in Amed (Diyarbakir) in the aftermath of the siege of Sur, in which the Turkish state murdered hundreds of freedom fighters in the Sur neighbourhood in a barely talked about civil war. In her search for freedom, she decided to go to the mountains of Kurdistan in 2017 and join the women’s guerrilla of the YJA STAR. On the 18th of April, we will come together to commemorate our friend and comrade. We will open a library that has been traveling Europe for the past years as a homage to Sarah’s courage and dedication to the fight for a free life. If you want, you can bring books and pamphlets that inspire you to keep fighting as a contribution to this traveling library. We will collectively read a message that Sarah wrote to the internationalists, followed by a screening of the movie Xwebûn. We welcome you from 19:00 at Snackbar Frieda, Bajonetstraat 49 in Rotterdam to commerorate Sarah and all the others that have given their lives for the revolution. Martyrs live forever!
