A quick update on Rise to a Desk.
We have commissioned a local carpenter in Wa to produce a sample desk. If we are happy with the result, large-scale production begins. All desks are made locally.
We have raised enough for about 54 desks so far. Target is 285. Almost all from personal networks.
Next step is finding institutional partners. If you know a company or foundation that might care about this, please let us know or tag them. And keep sharing.

Last year, during my work at the Swiss Embassy in Ghana I had the privilege to manage a project, sourcing locally produced desks and getting them into schools where children were still learning on bare floors.
What stayed with me was not just that one project. It was the realisation that this is not a problem one embassy can solve alone. But it is also not a problem without a solution. It just takes each of us doing our part where we can.
@risetoadesk is what came out of our wish to not abandon this need. Three partners, one clear goal: Keep putting desks in front of kids who need them.
